Wow,,ummmm,,,, have to say with all due respect paid to the differences of opinions that thread through individuality that is the music listener,,,,,I saw this guy with CoCo Montoya a few months ago.

Painful.

After  two songs, longed for something that said "I do something other than this".

Wait a minute,,he did.

He spat out a mouthful of beer on the audience.

Class act, really,,,,

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

Maybe he didn´t like the local beer or it was too warm. In earnest: I saw him four times, three shows were excellent, one was so lala. Seems that you had bad luck.

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

Friday night was great, I met up with my friend Tom and BluesBrother and heard a great set from Sardinas.  Just Treat Me Right was an early standout, as was his version of Can’t Be Satisfied. A rocking version of Bullfrog Blues followed. His band were great too, and they got a great reception from the medium sized crowd that included some of Glasgow’s current blues artists such as Alan Nimmo and Dave Arcari. A few of the latter songs in the set did fall into the trap of sounding a little too much like SRV, but the closing few numbers did really stand out. Eric sang an acoustic song without mic, which was a superb quiet moment and the closing song As The Crow Flies was superb, played in a way not too dissimilar from Rory Gallagher’s version, it was a fitting end to a great night.

As for Sardinas’ clothes, he was wearing a Jimi Hendrix-shirt that a fan the previous night in Newcastle had asked Eric to sign. When Eric hear the t-shirt dated from 1970 (the year he was born), he refused to do so, and said he’d wear it for his gig the following night instead. Bet it smells a little worse now!

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

Good post Duncan!  My interest in Eric grows with each review of his shows.  I wholely agree with the Rory similarity regarding "As the Crow Flies" and that's why I like their versions the best.  Doing an acoustic number with the mike turned off sounds pretty cool - course that could only be done in an intimate gathering.  I don't blame him for refusing to sign the Hendrix t-shirt either- especially if it's 40 years old.

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

Off to see him tonight:) at the Robin in Bilston.

Thanks for the review Duncan, did you take any pics or vids?
When I saw Eric back in 2006 he was dressed very fancily in embroidered velvet trousers and frilly shirt, he looked better without the shirt though wink

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

'Virgil and the Accelerators' just left the stage and I to say he knows his way around a guitar, only looks about 16, very intense solos, he goes crossed eyed when he goes for it. Worth the entrance fee just for him! One to watch out for.  Should get good pics as lighting is better than most small venues.

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

Jus got back and all I can say is wow. there was a good crowd or around 250. Eric was awesome, bass and the bass and drums were nice and tight. He really likes to deliver and deliver he did. Hopefully got some good pics. Met with him afterwards and he was great, taking time to make a fuss of my boy. Dont pass up anychance to see him live.

Re: Eric Sardinas UK tour dates

A few pics, unfortunaely they put Eric right under the only orange can on the lighting rig so most are useless, I will try to recue some of the others, really wish I had taken a video camera 'as the crow flies' was awesome and his encore even better:)
