Topic: Joe Bonamassa clinic, Cascio Interstate Music 3/8/09

Well,

Since as they say the cat is out of the bag, I thought I'd post what I've downloaded so far regarding Joe's clinic/performance at Cascio Interstate Music. I was going to try to combine it a little, but might as well post the segments now. There are 5 Parts here and there should be 6, so tonight I'll try to figure out what happened to the last part. Also, you may hear a little creeking during the video, I apologize for that. Apparently, my tripod was inducing some noise into the camera every time I turned it; I didn't realize that at the time. Joe estimated the crowd at about 120 people that came out in some very heavy rain. It was a great seminar!

Many thanks go out to Elliott Hill and his entire Staff at Cascio Interstate Music for putting on this wonderful performance/clinic featuring Joe.

This is brilliant, thanks for posting. Love seeing joe playing accoustic:cool:

Re: Joe Bonamassa clinic, Cascio Interstate Music 3/8/09

Ready for 6 - end.... dont tease us.

I'm really surprised Joe remembers Eagles ballroom, shank hall, summerfest, etc. and the pre-2002 days.
My guitar teacher opened up for Bloodline in WI I believe.

Re: Joe Bonamassa clinic, Cascio Interstate Music 3/8/09

I promise to look for it tonight Nic. As far as Joe remembering things, there is nothing wrong with his memory. Joe remembers everything and it just amazes me that he even remembers me. Joe meets and sees so many different people daily, that it just boggles my mind that he can keep us all straight. During the clinic he mentioned that he was undaignosed with ADD when he was young. But trust me, there is nothing wrong with Joe's attention span now. Not to many things slip past Mr. Joe Bonamassa, that's for sure! wink

Thank you so much Roy. I really enjoyed that and look forward to part 6.
Joe is quite a comedian isn't he?

Thanks Tripsy, yes Joe is quite the comedian, but he also can hold a room better than most. I really enjoy listening to his stories and of course, watching him play any type of guitar.

And Bill, I feel sorry for you buddy. It really was a terrific clinic showcasing Joe that was hosted by the people at Cascio. They did such a terrific job setting it up!

Regarding segment 6, I found it last night and spent a lot of time getting it uploaded. Youtube at first accepted it and then later rejected it because it said it was longer than 10 minutes. The last segment has Joe playing "Woke Up Dreaming" along with one question from the crowd; then my DVD ran out of space. If I have time, I'll try to edit it down. In the meantime, here are the still pictures that I took and actually, some of the credit for these must go to my very capable photo assistant Tallan T-Man Latz who is always on the ready to take over my still camera when I'm taking video. I just hope he doesn't make me start paying him! wink Here they are:

Oh yes, and special mention goes out to my friend Michelle who was kind enough to take the pictutre of Carl, Tallan and I. Of course, she's already added a comment to it. lol

Re: Joe Bonamassa clinic, Cascio Interstate Music 3/8/09

Thanks very much Dave. I thought I had a video pass for the show that night at Turner Hall, but apparently some wires got crossed and I ended up with only a photo pass. The photos from the show are I think some of my best and I, like many others, had my video camera available at the show. I did record 4 songs, three new ones and one old time great. Got a lot of work ahead of me tonight, but hopefully everyone will like what I have. Joe did a searing rendition of "Just Got Paid", but during filming I was told by a very nice lady usher to put down my camera. That ended my video taping for the night except for when Tallan joined Joe on stage. I HAD to get that on video and there were so many people standing around me, the ushers wouldn't have been able to get through, and I'm not too sure they even wanted to. wink

You know, I've always thought Joe was something very special before this weekend. After this weekend, I've come to realize that he's even more than very special! Hopefully, I'll have time to tell you why in a review.

Thanks for posting the clinic video.  I really enjoyed seeing Joe in a more relaxed atmosphere.  He really has quite the sense of humor. smile

Hey everyone,

I found the last segment of Joe's Cascio Interstate Music clinic and because of its length, I had to break it into two parts, Parts 6 and 7. Part 6 is interesting in that Joe talks about the song "Woke Up Dreaming" and how it came about. I had never heard this story before. Part 7 has Joe playing that song and then one audience question at the end before my disk ran out of time. Enjoy! cool

I enjoyed the George Thoroughgood (or however you spell it) story. Never knew that and I got a pretty good laugh too.

Yes Bill, that too cracked me up. Can you imagine George Thorogood sitting there with a cowboy hat on playing Country/Western songs? That in itself makes me laugh! And Joe's story of that is just great. lol

Michael, I think a little WD-40 or Silicone lubricant is in my furture with the tripod. wink

Roy,

I viewed all 7 parts of the Joe presentation you shared with us on the forum.  Loved, loved, loved it and appreciate your doing it and sharing it with us!  I found Parts 6 and 7 an interesting twist for the reasons below.

Many years ago,
when I was just 21,
I had never heard the blues,
I had never had any fun!
But then I met a man,
Who showed me George T,
And, now, I am a bet-ter me!

(add music to that little ditty like from "I'm a Man" and sing it loud)

My husband, Lil' E, was 30 when I met him (I was 21 in 1978).  He played for me, "The Sky is Crying" by George Thorogood, and my first reaction, being new to blues and feelings at that tender age, said "What is that ***t?"  Well, after the first shock, it pulled me in and then, duh, I realized that rock (and everything else) is based on blues.  So, I bought all of George's albums and other blues artists as well.  I still have my George Thorogood & The Delaware Destroyers t-shirt from the 70's!

Speed forward 30 years (I'm 51 now)...for Joe to have a connection to George T. totally made me smile!  I can just see George saying, looking, and doing what Joe said he did since he is such a character.  That Joe has had so many exposures to great artists at such a young age, and that he has learned and is using that knowledge to become the musician he is, is impressive, no?

I wish we could have seen the end of his story about buying six copies of the Guitar Player.  We bought two, one to preserve, and one to read over and over again.

Thanks again for doing this for everyone!

Impressive? Absolutely Bad Kitty! And I want to thank you for your kind words. smile

That was the very first time I recorded Joe and I'm very happy I did. I think it shows Joe in a different light and I think a very good one. It really shows how good of a story teller he is and that he can be quite funny. He really had control of the room at and at times, you could have heard a pin drop when Joe was speaking. He really is quite a personality! smile
