I'm a little surprised James Hunter's opening for Joe, but think that's pretty cool. I've got his People Gonna Talk album and really like it - very retro Otis Redding vibe to it. My favorites on the album are "Mollena", "People Gonna Talk" and especially "Don't Come Back."
This guy has got a great voice,plays some good r n b.
He has been on the Jools holland later show.
Joe
His first album was nominated for a blues Grammy a couple of years ago. I tried to book him at the Road House. He ended up canceling that tour and he didn't win the Grammy. I really liked the album and what he does. I was going to take a chance on him. I don't know how many tickets he would of sold here but I wanted to see him.
Have to agree with you there Joe, I've seen Mr. Hunter twice as the opener for Susan Tedeschi. The last time I saw him was November 26th last year. He always puts on a great show and coupling his show with Susan's is simply terrific! Here's a few pictures from the Northern Lights Theatre in Milwaukee:

It is a great voice. Such a contrast from his speaking accent. I come from East london so have a similar accent. Just wish when I opened my mouth to sing something that good came out!
I shall listen some more. Thanks for the tip!
Good to see James getting some recognition on the board now. I did post about him in July last year when his album was top of the billboard charts:
There's some links on it too:

It has been a "Hard Way" for Hunter, as it was way back in 1986 that Hunter formed his first Rhythm & Blues band The Veejays, taking on the pseudonym Howlin' Wilf.

He used to shop at the old guitar store I worked in in East London.

Instant reaction from just the songs on Jools - WOW, what a voice!!! Not quite Sam and not quite Otis, but most definitely in that same classy ballpark!
Will certainly check out more! Props to Duncan for previously trying to draw our attention to him.
(he also plays the 'right' guitar)
Thanks for the info Joe.
He comes to the Moulin Blues in Ospel, like you Joe!
So George we can see him there if we're lucky.
Hopefully he plays the same day as Joe.

Geez Joe, I just missed him at the Rose Theater in Brampton Ontario that lovely venue you graced last fall. Was sposed to interview you there too but somehow that got snafu'd. Anyway, had I been in town I would surely have checked James out in that awesome venue.
Van Morrison does not have much good to say about anybody (being a curmudgeonly old sod, a condition many here can relate to, me included on occasion, LMAO) and he loves James' voice/music.....
JB getting into the soul music. Does my old heart good.
And sir...
