Re: Ceriatone OTS

Yeah it was long man.  I ordered my HRM when they basically first came out so Ceriatone probably didn't have their speed up as quickly for assembly because or it's newness and high demand.  I believe that Nik either hired some more people or they have gotten better and quicker because he announced new wait times for his builds.  It was miserable though...I have wanted a Dumble type amp since I discovered SRV.  Then I gave up on that when I found out that they are so expensive.  When I discovered EJ I thought man what kind of amps is he using!?!  Marshall, Fender....what's that funny looking...AHHH ANOTHER DUMBLE!!!  It seemed that all of my favorite guitarists used them at some point so I was determined.  Then I discovered Ceriatone and it saved my tone.  I love my OTS HRM.  I just wish someone would make an affordable SSS Dumble clone...
I think it's just a matter of time though.  Fuchs has their "Clean Machine", Bludotone has their "Hi Plains Drifter", Custom by Cougar made a SSS clone.  I can't wait!

Does anyone hae a Ceriatone amp with the half power switch?  Does it suck tone?  How does it really work?

I have three Ceriatone amps- two have half power switches- one is a Mutchle$$ clone wink which works by switching off two of the four EL84 output tubes- the other (Overtone) works by essentially switching between pentode & triode on the O/P tubes- both do change tone- especially the pentode & triode option with a noticeable lowering of 'beef' and 'raunch' - a better way is to use a powerbreak of some description- but that too has it's issues- I think Joe has the best option, use plexi screens & let 'em scream! (the amps that is lol)! big_smile

This don't look like no express way to me...

Change the tone yes, suck it no, but volume wise you won't know the differnce b/c its still pretty freaking loud.

Exactly, quite a distinct difference in tone. I have the S&M Special with half power switch but I hardly ever use it (the switch not the amp). In retrospect I think having a half power switch with this amp does not make any sense because a) it has a MV and b) you don't have to crank this particular amp to get great tone.

Re: Ceriatone OTS

I've heard in the past that if you have four EL34 tubes in a 100 watt amp, you can essentially take out the two outer tubes, or the two inner tubes to get a 50 watt amp. I tried that, and I couldn't tell a difference in output, but I could tell a difference in tone...

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Ceriatone OTS

I have two ceriatones and the 2550 has a halfpower switch.
Here I can say yes it becomes a tad quieter. But also the sound seems more compressed
and looses a part of its dynamics. I don't use this switch. Both of the Ceriatone amps have a
very well working master volume and I rather use plexi shields then.
