Topic: Joe's Homecoming!

Hi everyone. Rocket and I saw Joe last night at the landmark theater in Syracuse and the show was beyond phenomenal! He started with Ballad of John Henry and never slowed down for the entire 2 hour, 15 song set. Every song was so inspiring and gorgeous. Although we had seats, Rocket and I snuck down to the front and stayed there. I just wanted to thank Joe for making all of our lives richer with his incredible music and I hope we gave him the best homecoming ever! Happy anniversary Joe, from a fan of over 10 years.

Re: Joe's Homecoming!

Man, that Rocket sure does get around! Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for your hometown boy! It's been a long journey! It's also his 20th anniversary "on the road"..hard to believe, he's still so young.    Cathy

Hey Catch, welcome to the forum.
I agree that you'll want to get all of Joe's cd's, but if you sprung for  "Live from Nowhere in Particular" and "The Ballad of John Henry", you'd have every song from the setlist covered, except Your Funeral, My Trial" (which is from You and Me).

It was a great show indeed, Spider, it was also good to finally meet a member of the forum, in person.
Not sure if you typically hang out after the show to talk with Joe, I have been for years, but the Landmark show
was the first time I've been kicked out of the venue.  Look for more from me in the General Topics section later today.

Good to meet you Spider

I was in the front row, outside the orch pit, on the left of center and there was a guy in the pit, front row, who filmed the entire show, maybe the same one you saw.  It would be great to get a copy, I could see his screen and he appeared to be doing a great job.  If you run across a DVD let me know.

Yeah Tom and I waited out back after the show. It was nice to meet you also!

You got kicked out Saturday? I didn't notice you had left? There were no problems I was aware of at the Landmark. But I was paying more attention to the show than much else.

Not during the show, after the show was over.  We were hanging out in the lobby area by the merch table, waiting to see if Joe was going to come out to the table, like he typically does at the Showroom at Turning Stone and many other shows I've seen.  A guy with a red jacket told us if we were not buying anything, we have to leave.

OK. Now it makes sense to me. I didn't stay inside after the show as I went out to my truck to grab my guitar for Joe to sign.

Re: Joe's Homecoming!

Hi, everybody. First post here, but I've been a huge JB fan for a couple of years now, and this show was finally my chance to see him live. I'm from the Albany NY area, and drove out Saturday late afternoon with a buddy to see the show at the Landmark.

Not only did Joe & the band put on a fabulous show, but I had something totally unexpected happen. We got in town about 6:30 PM and wanted to grab a bite to eat before the show, so we started looking around the neighborhood for a place to get a beer and a sandwich. We stumbled across a place called PJ Pub & Grille about a block from the Landmark. After sitting down at the bar and ordering, I went off to the restroom to wash up. Heading back to my seat, I glance down at a long table full of people, and guess who's sitting there? Yep--Joe himself! So I had a chance to stop, shake his hand, tell him how much I enjoy his music and wish him the best for the show that night. He couldn't have been more gracious. And when I told him I'd just downloaded The Ballad of John Henry from Amazon the previous night and listened to it during the car ride there, that brought a big smile and a thumbs up from Joe. Made a great memory to go along with a memorable concert!

Re: Joe's Homecoming!

I was one of those guys.  You will need permission to video Joe from his management. Mine never get posted to YouTube or distributed, period.  Most shows are video prohibted venues.
Go to the other Landmark post
