Re: Doyle Bramhall II

As was mentioned earlier, he's with the Arc Angels now and is touring with Scot McKeown (supported Joe at RAH) as support so would be worth catching that show.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I love Doyle, hes one of my favourite musicians, and hes a great songwriter. I'll be seeing the Arc Angels in London on Saturday at Bush Hall. smile

We dont know what kind of retainer Doyle was on while he was touring with Clapton. Often touring musicians have to sign contracts to say they wont release stuff while they are with the artist. That might have been the case since he's only started to fully do the Arc Angels thing again since he isnt touring with EC anymore.

Re: Doyle Bramhall II

I saw Arc Angels supporting you know who at the RAH on Monday and I must admit I thought Doyle was rather anonymous, with the majority of vocals and guitar licks coming from Charlie Sexton. Doyle even took a break at one stage and sat down at the back of the stage while Charlie played away. This wasn't reciprocated so maybe Doyle was feeling below par that night. I wasn't familiar with the material, except for a version of McCartney's Too Many People from Ram, so maybe that didn't help, but I thought they were pretty average. Certainly not up to the standard of Doyle's solo stuff.

I was listening to the album Jellycream on the way into work this morning and This Dream from his stint with Smokestack and his playing and singing is so much better than was evident from Monday night's performance. They were also suffering from RAH support band sound problems which no doubt didn't help matters - we know all about those, don't we? roll

...one of the shining moments during "dogs" Doyle effortlessly shows his skill, and don't forget Snowy White...piercing riffage...))

You probably either had his self-titled debut or Jellycream, where he was focused more on songwriting. But Smokestack, that stuff roars.

I have the Welcome cd with Smoke Stack It would be great if he could do another cd with them that rythmn section really brings it out of him, some heavy smokin guitar
