Topic: Buddy Holly

Shortly after take-off, in the early morning hours of February 3, 1959, a twin engine Cessna carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper crashed in an Iowa cornfield.  All three, including the pilot, were killed instantly.  The song "American Pie" was written in memory of the tragedy.  Buddy's career lasted a mere eighteen months, but the legend continues to this day.  He was a major influence on The Beatles, Rolling Stones and many others and had he lived he might have gone down as the greatest of his generation.

There has been something going on all week in Clear Lake, especially @ The Surf.  Great nostalgia venue and a very heart-warming place to see Joe Bonamassa.  Joe is very loved there.
