Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

It's that time of the month again when Joe plays his radio show on Planet Rock. Here's what Planet Rock says about Joe's show

"The words "kid" and "candy store" could be applied to Joe's radio show, as he faces up to the prospect of being able to choose anything he likes from his absolutely immense and diverse record collection to play for you for an hour.

He's opened our eyes to songs that we've never heard before, told us stories about how particular songs influenced him as he was growing up and basically been more enthusiastic about the stuff he plays than it is probably healthy to be.

Tune in on the last Saturday of every month to find out what Joe's got in store for you - you just don't know what you're gonna get."

Be sure to listen tomorrow to Joe's Show 26 February at 7.00pm UK time.

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

The full listing for this week's show was:

Whitesnake - Burn/Stormbringer from Live in the Shadow of the Blues
Jeff Beck - Freeway Jam
Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath
John Mayall - Leaping Christine from A Hard Road
Johnny Winter - Still Alive and Well
Led Zeppelin - Rainsong from The Song Remains the Same "The best version of this song"
Robben Ford - Talk to Your Daughter
Rory Gallagher - Bought and Sold
Sandi Thom - The House of the Rising Sun "from My Beautiful Girlfriend" How many times did you say "Beautiful" Joe?  lol You're right Joe, it's a belter. Sandi's interpretation of this old song is terrific. What a voice.  cool
The Band - Up on Cripple Creek
Bad Company - Rocksteady (I don't think I've ever heard this great track on PR before - thanks Joe)
Roy Buchanan - Sweet Dreams

Planet Rock indulged Joe by allowing him to overrun his allotted one hour by 5 minutes. If I were in charge I'd allow him to overrun by two hours.  big_smile

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

I simply love Planet Rock.....there is nothing online or over the airwaves that comes close to what PR is.......You would figure that living within 25 miles of New York City, you'd be able to find all sort of eclectic radio......nope!!!  I love hopping in the ol PC and logging onto Planet Rock......it's at the top of my favorites!!!  ROCK ON PLANET ROCK.....AND JOE.....AND BCC!!!!!! (please visit the NYC area!!! please!!!!!)

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

No one’s mentioned Joe’s Planet Rock show from last Saturday, 24th September. Did you all miss it?

If you are suffering withdrawal symptoms from not hearing Joe’s dulcet tones for several months, have a listen
here. Don’t forget it’s only available on until next Saturday. 1st October.

Joe’s play list was as follows:

1.    Waiting For The Bus – ZZ Top
2.    Jesus Just Left Chicago – ZZ Top
3.    I’m In The Mood – John Lee Hooker & Bonnie Raitt
4.    Beck’s Bolero (from the Ronnie Scott’s Concert) – Jeff Beck
5.    Mother Popcorn – James Brown (Joe’s recently got into this JB)
6.    No Quarter – Led Zeppelin (Joe mentioned BCC played this # at the end of 2010 and he wanted to include it in the recent summer shows, but it was voted out by the BCC democracy – a real shame as I thought their version was very cool and a great tribute.
7.    Thorn In My Pride – Black Crowes
8.    Manish Boy – Muddy Waters
9.    Dixie Chicken – Little Feat
10.    Medusa – BCC
11.    Please Accept My Love (Live) – BB King

Enjoy.  smile

Re: Joe's show on Planet rock

I caught the replay. Yes, Joe does like the funk, and Tal too. We got a good dose out here recently. I'd love to see him toss a JB cover in the tour. (funny how those initials keep popping up) That would shake up the troops and get some booty shaking going on as well! lol

I was thinking just the same when Planet Rock informed me. If it is a doppelganger he is good and as such I will still listen. lol
