Topic: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

I'm pleased to be able to announce that I have helped arrange a meeting point for those of us that in London the night before Joe's appearence at the Royal Albert Hall, and hear some good music into the bargain!

As you will be in Britain and here to see some blues rock, I though it would be good if you could see some British blues rock too, and I sent out a few emails to see if any British artists would be keen to entertain the Bonamasses in London.

I have received confirmation today that Aynsley Lister will play a concert in London at Dingwall's in Campden, London on the eve of Joe's gig! Some of you may be aware of Aynsley from the other artist's forum, or you may have seen him play if you are based in the UK or Europe.

This concert is not specifically arranged for Joe's fans, but the date has been set up with Joe's RAH concert in mind.  Hopefully this event will provide a good occasion for forum members, friends and families to meet up before Joe's concert and of course hear Aynsley, who is also a great talent.

Here are some links:

Tickets will go on sale in the first week of new year.

I hope to see some of you there! smile smile

Thanks Duncan!! I know you worked at making this happen! You guys are setting the bar very high. How will we ever rise to this level when you guys come Stateside??? It will be fun trying!!  Now, do you think he'll play "Need Her So Bad"???? Cathy

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

We'll never survive this, Cathy. sad

Five consecutive nights of concerts and partying !? At our age?

Thursday - Queens Day
Friday - Joe
Saturday - Joe
Sunday - travel to London, eat curry, and Aynsley plus Bonnabuddy do
Monday - Bonnabuddy meet, eat curry, THE show, more partying, eat curry, drop dead.

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

Duncan, this is absolutely fantastic news and all down to your efforts, well done!! wink I really can't think of a better blues rock artist to get us all warmed up for the RAH, it's going to be one hell of a weekend. smile

Dingwalls only holds 487 people so make sure you all get your tickets early, I think it will probably be a sell out. If you are a fan of Joe then you won't be disappointed when you see and hear Aynsley, he's from the same mould and about the same age, although I don't think he's been playing as long as Joe (what 31 year old has? big_smile)

I can't tell you how exciting this news is. To see two great blues rock guitarists on consecutive nights will be amazing.

Cathy, I'm so glad you'll at last be able to see Aynsley in the flesh and let's hope he plays Need her so Bad, Angel of Mine, Soundman - I could go on and on. Shame Joe won't be able to get along as a duet with Aynsley on Since I Met You Baby would be something else.

George, just make sure you get enough sleep before and after and you'll be fine - this is going to be a complete one off and not to be missed. Just don't overdo the food and drink. I know, easier said than done. wink

Thanks Duncan, you've surpassed yourself. smile

Right Duncan, you're in charge of making sure there are tickets for Cathy, Eva and me. Please. wink

Yeah right, Phil. roll

Sleep before and after....there's no time for that. This sounds like a classic Dr. Gonzo trip, one requiring all sorts of, er, stimulants and substances. big_smile

Uh, that could just mean lots of coffee and, er, curry. wink

Have I missed something? Re Friday and Saturday?? Can't see any dates on the tour guide. The reason I ask is that I'll be in Brussels on 25,26,27/4 for a 60th Birthday weekend. I was going to travel back for the 28/4 at Sheffield but I could stay longer for a couple of European gigs. The question is can I manage
22/4 Gateshead (thanks Geoff)
23/4 Wolverhampton
24 - 27/4 Brussels (Belgian Beer)
30/4 Queens Day (Kept my Orange T-Shirt from 2007)
1/5 ??
2/5 ??
3/5 Aysnley + Bonnabuddy
4/5 Bonabuddy + RAH + Bonabuddy

Good deal Duncan!

I'll try and snag a ticket.

Pete59:  Gary Moore at Hammersmith Apollo on 2 May. Someone else posted that Rick Wakeman was performing outdoors I think on 1 May.

Major Tom to ground control...

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

Wow, WELL DONE Duncan, thank you so much for your efforts!! smile

That sounds like we got a perfect week planned ... let´s all stay healthy, have a lot of sleep and good food before this time - and then: let´s party!! smile

Seeing Aynsley is just perfect for Sunday - London should better be prepared for us ...

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

Thanks for all your responses to date. I appreciate this gig may not be suitable for all travellers to London, but hopefully there will be enogh of us there to enjoy Aynsley's music and meet up (most of us for te first time!).  Re the block bookings, I think the concert will be mainly standing, so we should be able to meet up somewhere within the venue (between the front and the bar perhaps!) I think tickets will be available directly from the Dingwall's website, but I will check this out at a later date.  Aynsley has said in the past that if you email him, he will try to put any requests in his set list, so that may be worth doing nearer to the time.  It certainly will be a great appetiser for the main event smile

Nice one Duncan!
Thanks for helping to arrange this gig, you're a star.

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

Duncan

Well done my friend. A perfect warm up.

I saw Aynsley "support" Robin Trower earlier this year and he totally upstaged him. Davy Paterson saved the day. Dave Acari was also dropped from the bill on the night - one wonders why!

I will be there.

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

Good one Duncan!  Don't think I can make it but that'll get everyone in the mood.

Re: Concert and pre RAH forum meeting place arranged for 3rd May!

You really did a great job Duncan.

But unfortunately Rudi, Johan, Rudi's son Thomas and I arrive Mondaymorning at 00.70 at London Stansted. I don't know about Geko, we should meet at the airport where he would come by car( fear of flying) and we wanted  to travel from there together by train our London hotel.

We couldn't come on Sunday because I'm in a weekendhouse with the whole  family the week before and come back too late for the  Sunday.

But we can have contact then to lunch or have dinner somewhere on Monday with the Bonabuddies. We are all in London aren't we??

We have time to arrange something then.

Sorry but can't change, but many thanks Duncan for making the Sundaynight special already!!

Thanks Duncan. I'm quite sure I will be there, although I'm trying to finalize my plans and squeeze in the pre-RAH Holland shows.
