Re: The Germany Tour

This was a fantastic concert in Nuremberg. Joe´s playing was superb. Some tunes were much better than on the live cd. Will post some short vids on youtube soon: Look after :

Re: The Germany Tour

Alright, drank too much Coke and can´t sleep now, so here´s ....

Hamburg 2.12.2008

First off: Joe bought a new guitar in Hamburg, but SOMEONE (I know that someone...) was quicker than me with the news (see "Joe´s guitars, amps and gear"..) - Grrrrrr, that was my story! wink It´s a Flying V (from 1981?!) and Issy and me had the chance to watch Joe and Dave getting all excited about their new toy - but I have to admit that this IS a really cool and Rockstar-like guitar. Joe played Django on the V during the soundcheck, but in the end he used it for "Just got paid". I videotaped that one and really couldn´t hold the camera still - I tried really hard, but I just COULDN´T ... wait until you guys get to see it, I hope I can get it up on youtube by the weekend (I can also try to upload your video Thomas..), it definitely ROCKS...! Or as Joe and Dave would say: "It´s bad*ss" .......

The show was absolutely great again and the venue was very nice too (an old factory) - the only thing that was a bit annoying was a press-guy with a camera, who nearly killed Issy by pushing her to the side just to get in front of the stage. He seemed to be on drugs and just kept on pushing us to the side. Luckily Dave saw what happened and Harry came to "rescue" us and the guy was thrown out. After that we could finally enjoy the show, sing along and be happy ... smile
One of the highlights this time was seeing Django back in the set before "One of these  days"... sooo beautiful. We were in heaven, right Issy?!

The guys are already on their way to Osnabrück now (O-S-N-A-B-R-Ü-C-K, Joe ... wink) and I will also get a train tomorrow and finally meet up with Andre again - Yippie!

Yes, life is good at the moment - I don´t even want to think about going back to the Uni next week ... well, 2 more shows to go! smile

Re: The Germany Tour

Thanks for the fantastic reviews Eva smile

I'd read about Joe buying the Flying V on his Facebook page.  I wonder if he was tempted to throw in a few Michael Schenker riffs.

Shame you missed Erfurt, Joe was Christmas shopping at the market there!

Re: The Germany Tour

Wonderful reviews Eva, thank you - and to the others who have posted and filmed!!

I'm good and excited for tomorrow despite the fact that the two friends who were supposed to come with me from Amsterdam have just canceled at the eleventh hour, leaving me with two spare tickets and a long drive by myself.

Re: The Germany Tour

It's going to be quite a day for lots of us - my next (7th) Joe gig tonight with all the buddies from our 'Camp Geko' gathering in September except Cathy (sniff) - and of course, Joe appearing at Andre's school!!!

Many reports to follow, no doubt......

i tried to upload it on youtube for more than 6 hours, but after i gave up...........its bigger than 1GB so maybe thats why it doesnt work.
a copy goes to eva and another one to andre in holland. so if you contact me or andre or eva, sure everybody will make another copy and send it around. just like a trading vine or something like that.
believe me its 9 minutes of ambrosiahoney for the ears..................and moreover very nice to watch.

Hi Thomas

Try running the video through Windows Movie maker, most pcs, even my old one have this software under the accessories section.  if you click on your start menu, the top option (in English) is programs, and selecting this the top option is accessories. Moviemaker could be on there. Then you could upload the video, and save it as a smaller file that youtube should accept.  Hope that helps! smile

Re: The Germany Tour

Hi Eva, if that was you right under Joe's feet at the front in Fabrik on Tuesday, then I saw you there! Was there a problem at the beginning around where you were? Some guy claiming to be press stormed through the crowd by me at the beginning of the show causing quite a disturbance upsetting people. One of the roadies got a security guy there I think. I was amazed. Crowd trouble at a JBm gig.

Fantastic performance though. I hope Joe wasn't too annoyed that the crowd was a little boisterous during some of his quieter passages. I was always hope for a 'moment' at a concert when the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I have to say that "Mountain Time" is my trigger song live and I wasn't disappointed. He played it quite early in the set with "India" and his soloing was sublime. From that moment I knew it would be a night to remember and it surely was.

Time pressure meant I had to leave straight after the set. Is Joe still coming out to meet and greet after the shows? Sorry to have missed him if he is. Thanks Joe. I shall be doing my best to get to RAHall in London. I seen many of my heroes there and I would like to see Joe play in those surroundings although often the sound can be poor.

Good luck fro the rest of the tour. Have fun

Re: The Germany Tour

Thanks to all from Camp Geko, and Marianne for calling and saying "Hi".....I really wish I was there!! Sounds like the BITS program was a success!! I even got to say a quick hello to Joe. He says he feels better..sounds a touch nasal still....But we all know it won't be apparent during the show. Can't wait to hear all about it!    Cathy

Re: The Germany Tour

Jeez, where to start?

My friends here canceled at the last moment, leaving me a 250 km drive (each way) on my own. It snowed almost all the way there, resulting in a 2 1/2 hour journey taking me more than four hours. Luckily, I had left plenty of time for anything unexpected and arrived several hours before the doors opened

Eva was waiting for me and others at the stage door, after which we retired to a nearby hostelry for much needed food and liquid refreshment.

The Germans have this bizarre thing called a 'curry wurst', which is a perfectly ordinary common garden sausage with....wait for it....curry powder sprinkled on top. I asked the waiter to hold the curry powder but that wasn't possible. They were selling a 'curry wurst' so you had to have the powder on top. Unbelievable.

Even more unbelievable in the department of forum related gobsmacking coinkydinks - after we'd eaten I suggested that all the assembled buddies who know Cathy might like to say a quick hello, so I called the Maryland woods and everyone said hello. Just as the phone was passed back to me I saw a figure out of the corner of my eye and heard 'Hi George'. I turned to see Joe standing there with his hand extended while I heard Cathy in my ear! Naturally, I had to pass the phone to Joe so Cathy could tell him it was time to stop dieting as he was thin enough now. big_smile

Wow!

Some people are simply not photogenic -

- while others simply are -

We eventually hooked up with Geko & Co. in the small but tightly packed hall and enjoyed the show from the usual forum position, right by the stage. Man, the RAH is going to be very different!

I'll leave a proper show review to others and conclude with a pic specially taken for my dear Cathy, our no.1 guitar ho'. big_smile

Looks like you all had a great time. What do you mean by "photogenic", George? I suppose you are the Nietzsche-alike, and this person looks quite impressive.

G Dawg, do you have any idea how jealous I am that you guys and especially Eva are soaking up all the Joe you can git yer hands on lately? Glad you're all havin' some good times. I gotta admit Joe looks a bit whooped in your photo, he deserves some well earned R&R.

Yes Gunter (I always forget the shortcuts for the Umlauts), I will admit to the Nietzschian (God knows how to spell that right) mustache.

As for the bratwurst, I tried, I really did. But the (foreign) waiter said that 'curry wurst' was on the menu and NOT bratwurst, so I couldn't have my wurst without the curry powder on top - I was reminded of that great John Belushi sketch from SNL where he tries to get the waitress to 'hold' various parts of the burger. big_smile
