It? warm here! Hear you guys in the UK are suffering arctic blizzards but it? been t'shirt stuff today. Only a few hours to go before Joe and boys take the heat up even further as they play Bikini in Barcelona and I just cant wait! Report later.

Hola! Bikini was not easy to find but we eventually saw a queue outside what looked like a metal crypt and joined it. The crypt door opened upwards hydraulically and led us into what can only be described as the Starship Bonamassa, think Close Encounters of the Third Kind, with a dark passageway leading underground into the bowels of the earth. I was expecting to meet Luc Picard or Lucifer but instead a very friendly booking office chap gave me our tickets ... and we were in!
The venue holds around 600 and very soon filled up with a mostly young male audience of Spaniards so I was alright! When Joe and the boys came on the audience were very enthusiastic and gave them a rapturous welcome. It was great to be in a smaller crowd again but my feet were killing me after walking around Barcelona all day.
At Bristol Joe looked peaky but last night he looked fab and seemed to have gotten over his flu bug (for the girls - he wore a black shirt and jeans and had his hair a little shorter and slicked back) and looked FIT. From the start the audience were with him. The setlist was much the same as Bristol. I LOVE The Ballard of John Henry and can·t wait for the new album so I can play it over and over. This will become a Joe classic Im sure. Mountain Time was phenonemal, the beauty of this song gets to me every time and it? LKs fave too. The opening to Sloe Gin was a little different this time, but the whole song and the way Joe plays brings a tear to my eye every time. The set just whizzed by and I can honestly say this was one of the best gigs weve seen and well worth coming to. Joe and the band really seemed to be enjoying themselves.
And at the end, we got to hear Joe say "muchos gracias signors y signoritas"!!
PS We hung around after the gig hoping to speak to the boys but decided to leave when the pizza guy arrived!!!!

And who would have thought that the Starship Bonamassa is parked in Barcelona at the moment ... tsts!
So happy to hear that you two had such a great time down there in sunny Barcelona ... Joe and the guys will be in shock when they arrive in my hometown Nürnberg next Friday - we´ve got snow all over and -5 degrees!
When you mentioned "Mountain time" (which is my favourite too, if I´m forced to pick only one) I thought about Liverpool again and how we were enjoying this song together ... I really miss the "Bonamassa Gang"!! But as it looks we will all meet again at the RAH in less than half a year. 
I wish you both a good journey back to chilly England and keep the sunny memories in mind ....

Thanks for telling us about your close encounter of the Joe kind, the best type of close encounter I'd say.
What more could you want...warm sunny weather, brilliant live music courtesy of the best blues rock band in the world and more than 500 young excitable male Spaniards oh and Joe speaking Spanish....you must have been weak at the knees.
I hope Laurence had a tight hold on you!
What a great time, looking forward to seeing you and everybody else at what will be the highlight of 2009.
I hope Joe's got his thermals ready for Germany...can't have him getting sick again!

Thanks Lyn..Sounds like you had a nice break and a wonderful show. That should tide you over for a bit. Happy to hear Joe and the band seem fit and ready for action.

It needs lots of work before then as the last mission was a messy one....now where is my uniform? Lt.Cmdr G
reading all this reviews makes me very hungry for the coming weekend. really look forward to friday and saturday......................and thanx a lot to all the reviewers for keeping us up to date.............great work from everybody and allways nice to read.
