Re: Bad For You Baby Gary Moore

Thanks Duncan. I'm seeing GM on 2.5 at the Hammersmith Apollo. It will be the first time for me so I'll have nothing to compare the experience to aside from DVDs and CDs.

Re: Bad For You Baby Gary Moore

Although it may seem my review on Gary is negative, it was pretty much exactly as I thought he would be.  Had his setlist been a little different I may have posted a review with a different slant. Other than the version of Have You Heard it was the songs from the SGTB era that I enjoyed most.

One comment I do have to make was that my friend who was to take photos at the concert was told once we entered the building that Gary had decreed that photos would not be allowed and indeed the venue photographer was also allowed to take photos during the second song! hmm

As I said I'm glad to have seen him, but like Mike as I have done so, I will look to see some other artists, particularly those that do not yet have such an established fan base.

Thanks again for the heads up on the camera ban! It looks like the only video I'll get to shoot in London will be of Mr. Lister and his band. But I will take the earplugs to the GM gig just in case...

This was a professional camera with a large lens. I did myself take plenty of pictures with a small digital camera (the quality is a lot less, but it's nice to have something).

Re: Bad For You Baby Gary Moore

I've been a fan of Gary since I was very little, infact I think the first time I ever heard his guitar playing may have been on the vinyl of Peter and the Wolf!! (I was very little!)

He's one of the reasons I started playing guitar, along with Thin Lizzy. Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, long hair and Les Pauls. It was all I wanted!

Managed to catch him live 4 or 5 times over the years and I have to say each time has been slightly more underwhelming than the last neutral

Having said that, I tend to ignore press and stuff. Obviously I read it, but it tends not to impact on my opinion. All I know is that Gary Moore has been the biggest influence so far on my playing and what I listen to. However I'm feeling now its just the same licks played in a different way.

Joe is currently taking up all of my attention, he appeared on my radar a few years ago but it's only been the last 2 or 3 months that I've become fixated on him! Its fresh and exciting and I'm totally caught up in it.
