Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!
I have a tele and a couple of strats, all mexican. A 2006 and up mexican will have an adler body and not a poplar body. Poplar bodied guitars are way to trebley sounding to me. The biggest difference in sound is the tele has way more sustain than the strats. I think its because, of the string through body. The tele is slighly more twangy with more. The tele seems to cut through the mix better than the strat. I think thats why alot of the metal bands are using them nowadays. The tele sounds better when playing big chords. The play ability is pretty much the same because there both set up for me. The strats are more comfortable because of the body contures. I think the strings on the tele feel a little stiffer even though I set my strats with the bridge flush. I have texas special pickups in both guitars, and love both of them. My advise is try one also, or listen to people who play tele's or watch youtube video's of both or any other guitar your interested in. Someone once told me, You can make a tele sound "like any guitar" but you can't make another guitar sound like a tele. The more I experiment, the more I think he's right. This is just my two cents on the subject. I love les pauls to and would have fifty guitars if I could afford them. Good luck to you in your search for your rightous tone.
