Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!

Well, as long as you already the other one, it's probably a good idea to try a Tele too. Both guitars are extremely versatile. But, they are definately different animals.

Check out the "Baja Telecasters" from Fender. Seem like a good deal, for the $$$$.

Early 80's 1957 U.S. Vintage Reissue Stratocaster (Surf Green)-Warmouth Soloist  Pearly Gates Neck, Pearly Gates Bridge- Larrivee D-03 (Mahogany/ Spruce)

Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!

hmmm, Why dont you try some Teles out?? I prefer the mellow strat neck pick up to the twang of a tele bridge / neck pick up tbh. It all depends on what sound your looking for I've heard some cracking teles but to me it never seems as versatile as a strat although its certainly a workhouse.

My pal has one it sounded great everytime I heard him play it, after a couple of months though the wiring came loose on the pick ups, Im guessing it was quality control issue not sure if they are all like that. It had a tonne of bite though when he played lead etc

This is a really strange question. Noone here can tell you if YOU like them or not.

If you like to try a Tele then try one and judge yourself...:/

What I can tell you is that Teles are great guitars. I don't have one
but I have the Gigliotti Tele which I love to bits. I even ordered the Gigliotti  GS (strat version)
as the GT totally convinced me.

My advice to you is, go out and try a Tele and then let us know your thoughts
instead of letting other people tell you whether its any good or not.

Good luck
Alex

Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!

Do you know anyone who has a telecaster? If you do, would they let you borrow it for a short period of time to try it out? Is there a music store that you can try one there?? if not....

I take it you have two strats? Then selling one or trading it to buy a tele is not a bad idea. In my opinion.

You either need to sell it, trade it or save your money and buy a guitar outright. Simple! Problem solved. Don't sit here agonizing about it. Make up your mind and do it!

Hi Spider,
here in Italy music stores are not like american stores...You can't try whatever you want!!! Yes I have two strats...so I want to buy a guitar with the same money without adding more!! On the other hand...i can sell the strat and save money for buying JB signature...I don't know!!!

If you cant try what you want how do u know what ur getting is what you want sound wise? You have a rght to try before you buy something like a guitar, If you bought a car you wudnt just buy it before taking it for a test drive? :x just my thoughts.

Btw I dont know what its like in Italy but in the UK due to the financial crisis etc I think selling stuff is getting harder and even trading stuff is yielding crap prices.

Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!

Keep the strat. Buy a tele.

While tele's have a unique sound, strats are more comfy and have more tones..nice to still have it around. Have two guitars! what's holding you back?

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Not sure if theres older but during the 80's and 90's Japanese quality was renowned and made fender re-think, They was and probably still are churning out better guitars. I had a stunning '62 Strat made in japan non-export model, not sure but I think it was 89-91 ish. Was a dream to play but I rarely took it to gigs cuz I didnt wanna mess the finish up.. Took it back to the shop and did a straight swap for a 95 USA Burgundy Mist Strat (They finish is stunning and its been played enough to have a nice worn in neck). They both was the guitar shop owners own guitars he knows I look after gear so under the understanding of when I want to sell / swap it I take it back to him (hes a pal) I was able to aquire them.

You honestly wont go a miss with a used guitar USA or Japan just dont buy anything in haste uno?

This site is in the UK http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/usedguitars.htm but will give u an idea on Japan prices I keep tabs on this site cuz he gets some awesome lawsuit model Les Pauls in. Have you thought about a Les Paul? again its a totally different animal... I love strats and pauls but cant really stand playing teles or rather im yet to play one I like...
You can get a good twang out of a strat and realistically the Tele and Strat arnt so different, But a Les paul type guitar is totally different, Hollow bodies too so mny sounds to get out there smile

Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!

If you are interested in a Fender type look into Nash guitars - Blow any new Fender out of the water.  Not even joking.

Re: Selling my stratocaster...need advice!!!

Check ebay - you can usually find one if you keep searching.  Or got to www.pedalgeek.com . He's a dealer.  Those are the only 2 places I know of.
