Cant talk for the man himself, but can give you my thoughts on his Strat habits smile

He is a Gibson man smile He is not a strat man. He has some strat style guitars, but these are invariably made by custom builders. His latest start looking guitar that I know of would be the baritone guitar that he is using on Spike Driver blues. But this has a larger scale length, resulting in a much lower range of notes available to him, I think its standard tuning would equate to C.

But seriously, he was a strat man a long time ago, but it is like the proverbial monkey on his back, he is, and he wants to be known as a Les Paul player. As he says, Les Paul into a loud Marshall, for him that is THE setup!!! You could say that his signature sound is very into the typical British Blues sound.

Hope I shed some light, albeit only my perception from reading/watching interviews with the Great man himself talking.

cause I saw he used to play the eric clapton signature but before when he played "a new day yesterday" he played a lot of different strats...

Yes, not disagreeing with that, just saying that now he is a Gibson man through and through. I know there were some issues regarding fender, and that is another reason you will rarely see him playing one nowadays.

Hey Junior.....the answer to your question; coming from the MAN himself (with no less than 3 or so posts by him!) lies within a thread that I started a while ago (now located towards the bottom of page 2) entitled "Tis a sad day in Strat-land for Joe Fans". Joe thoroughly explains his drastic switch from Strats to Les Pauls.
Hope it helps!
