Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I suggest that this topic is used for NFL-related posts so that the 'other' topic and the name of its starter can just die away?

I'm surprised there hasn't been any comment on the Dolphin's result in New England!? That was one of the major upsets of recent years, shirley?

The NFC East looks awesomely strong this season, even my Redskins have given me cause for optimism. big_smile As long as we do the Cowgirls my season is good. cool

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Angels win.....................WOW! the Pats beat the 49er juggernaut, we have a high school team out here named DeLaSalle that could beat the 9er's.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the first time in many years the Redskins look (to me anyway) like they've really got it together! After going behind to two early TD's they allowed the Eagles only one FG during the rest of the game.

Jason Campbell is getting better by the week, Portis cannot be stopped at the moment and Suisham is knocking in 50 yd. FG's! cool

Now 4-1 after a very close opening day loss to the Giants; the next three games are against St. Louis, Cleveland and Detroit. big_smile

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a possibility, I just wish the Browns had the Niners & Raiders on their schedule this season. I'm listening to the Mon. morning snivel session on KNBR. The only upside they've mentioned was that the Patriot fans didn't out number the Niner fans especially on the day they retired Steve Young's number. It's no fun being a Pro Football fan in the Bay Area these days.

George, don't count your chickens before they hatch. You can't take anything for granted in the NFL(which btw stands for Not For Long). There's no "sure thing" team out there this year, just try betting one weekend!!! Wait till about week 8 or 9 to really get a handle on who looks good. I watch the Skins each week with a girlfriend from Baltimore, she's optimistic, but not making plans for the Super Bowl just yet. Hopefully the Browns are going to pull the trigger and fire their coach. The Browns Backers Newsletter reported last week that Bill Cowher was looking at homes and opened a new bank account in the suburbs of Cleveland. I doubt that he only wants to get closer to the R&R Hall of Fame.

PS, when you do count your chickens are they Dixie Chickens??????????????

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John, I ain't counting any Dixie Chickens ( nice find, that!) before they hatch! big_smile I'm just tickled pink at the realistic prospect of reaching the play-offs. That assessment is based on a combination of what I've seen in the last two games, which I saw live, the highlights from the earlier games and the not unreasonable expectation of winning at least two (if not all three) of the next games against teams who are all up ***t creek right now.

And, I'm sure you'll agree that Campbell and Portis have been very impressive and that Suisham is in the best form of his career right now. Moss and Randle El (apart from that great TD pass big_smile) have hardly contributed - there's more to come - while the defense has also improved. I'm a happy Skin now, I'm gonna savor every minute - while it lasts. Forty years of supporting West Ham United is fantastic training for dealing with disappointments. roll

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget your new head coach Jim Zorn. Us Browns fans are still shaking our collective heads from last year. We were the only team to win 10 games and NOT go to the playoffs, the loss to Atlanta cost us the post season. Cleveland fans are a durable lot, we've seen more downs than ups, but we remain loyal. There's nothing fair weather about us. You would thoroughly enjoy watching a game with my friend Denise, she jumps up and sings Hail To The Redskins after every score. They had to seperate her from the Dallas fans at the bar last week, they didn't have much to say to her after it was over.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oct. 1, 2006................Browns overcome an 18 point deficit in the second half to beat the Raiders 24-21 with their second biggest come from behind victory in franchise history. Sept. 23, 2007..............Browns kick game winning field goal as time expires only to have to re-kick as Lane Kiffin calls time out a split second before Phil Dawson's kick, a trick he learned the week before from Mike Shannahan when Denver pulled it on the Raiders. The second kick missed, quite possibly Lane Kiffins greatest moment of his tenure with the Raiders. Hey, what's wrong with the first pick in the draft???????????????
