Bluezman, how did you know that was me up on stage? Did you guys come talk to us at the merch table after the show? That was a crazy chain of events that led to us hanging out backstage. I don't have time now, but I'll post the whole story with pics later. Glad you guys had fun...

Without love in the dream it will never come true.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: September 1st Sparks NV

Hola, everyone!

We just got back from Reno late last night (flight delayed due to torrential rain in Chicago from Hurricane Gustav). No Internet access, so no posting, but better late than never. smile

What can I say? The show was everything I was hoping for and more. Chris and I planned this year's vacation around this show, both because Joe's not coming to Illinois until March and we felt Reno would be a change from Vegas where we usually go.

First, I want to say what a pleasure it was to meet Bluezman, JDawg and Shredit. I guess I should have expected some forum people but not you three who I know from your many fine posts. I was just walking down from the Nugget to scope out the stage, walked up to the small group of people standing there, and lo and behold. smile How cool it is to meet such great fans? Priceless. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Bluezman for holding chairs for us. You don't know how much it meant to Chris, as he has bad feet and would have been really hurting to stand for so long.

And what can I say about Joe that hasn't been said already? OMFG. After breaking down on the road and almost missing the gig, he delivers a powerhouse performance that shook that festival from one end to the other. I loved the new song (which I assume will be on the new album). Blues Deluxe was the highlight for me, as Joe took that puppy to new levels of guitar god-ness. I'm still in heaven. smile

After the show Joe came out to sign autographs and as he was signing my LFNIP CD, I told him Chicago is anxiously awaiting his return. He mentioned going back to the House of Blues next year so let's hope that happens. Please Joe!

Chris took some great pictures and I'll post them to flicker as soon as he's done "tweaking" them. We took a day trip to Lake Tahoe and got some great pictures which I'll post as well. That place is amazing. Shredit, you were completely right on about that. big_smile

I'm just saying.

Re: September 1st Sparks NV

Nancy,

It's always a pleasure to meet some out of town members and Reno/Tahoe shows usually produce one or two. I wound up in Tahoe myself on Tue., Bluezman left about an hour before me and called to warn me that west on 80 was a parking lot due to road construction. That was all the excuse I needed to drive through Lake Tahoe as an alternate route home. I'm sure you understood what Shred and I were talkin' about the minute the lake came into view. I hope you had a chance to drive around the entire lake to see all it's wonders, can't wait to see your pix. If Joe plays Tahoe again one of these days I know who we'll probably see there.

WHEW!!!....what a day for everyone....and I do meen EVERYONE!......I took off here at 10am to drive "east on 80" ( not west, at least not at this time )....I'm on the road about 45 minutes winding my way up the mountain...as I come around a blind bend, I see this bus with a trailer on the side of the road broken down....I should have reacted quicker, but I never ever expected The Bonamassa Bus to be in that location, as they were in Oregon the night before...I drive another 10 minutes, before making a phone call to Melissa in Ohio, I explained what I saw to her.....she was going to do some research to see if I was correct....5 minutes later Jdawg calls me from Reno to ask me where Im at, apparently that was Joes bus!....I turn around "west on 80" (that wont be the last time we here that today smile )....head back to the bus, a tow truck was hooking uo the trailer...the band got picked up by a van the Nugget Casino sent....the boys had very little time to prepare as Aaron and Dave were setting up the gear...a very quick sound check to say the least

Reno was having there 10th annual ribfest, so the streets of Sparks were packed....many a person I talked to were excited to finally see the great Joe Bonamassa live!.....I have never been to a Joe show that had that many people that were forum visitors or members...I had the pleasure to meet "Nancy from Chicago" and her husband, they flew all the way here to see Joe, wish they had hung around afterwards.....the set was slightly different as far as the order of songs....but the sound was fantastic, and the band did not dissapoint...."Blues Deluxe" was incredible!!!....I hope my video of that song and a couple more turn out ok, I'll find out Thursday when I go through everthing and plug into my LCD TV....I better shut this post down, I'm starting to ramble...but before I go, many thanks to the 2 lovely ladies that handed out 150 JB cards through the crowd for me

Great show guys, take that 17 day break and relax wink

Shred

I think I'll put the 3 songs on youtube later today...Spike Driver Blues...So Many Roads....and Blues Deluxe....I just finished watching them again on my TV.....I've seen some real bad videos on youtube, so these are better than alot of them...I hope the audio is better on the computer, not happy with it at all with the TV

Re: September 1st Sparks NV

I finally got them pics and video downloaded....I read that damn manual over and over, experimented like the nutty professsor, but with a computer and camrea...nothing!!.....my daughter comes in the room and takes one look at me..."just dont start cussing, I'll help you"....well the plug (thingimajig) in the front of the hard drive was the problem...my sweet daughter says lets see if theres one in the back...BINGO!!....you know the saying, we never ask for directions roll...anyhow, I'm so burned out right now...tommorrow I'll put some pics and the 3 songs on here if anyone is interested...well not all the photos

Re: September 1st Sparks NV

You dun gude Sherd, fer a Sacto. wacko. LOL. The Travel Channel ran a show on rib joints several times over the past weekend going back and forth to the Ribfest in Sparks. Unfortunately there was no footage of Joe, but all the footage was shot on Labor Day when we were there. I saw numerous shots of people I saw during the day, especially the 20 something girls and guys that painted their wife beaters with BBQ sauce. That crew was sloshed, but got their drunken butts on TV. The Memphis rib cookers were off the chart, I'm going back next year and pounding those ribs till I'm cross-eyed. Sure hope they bring Joe back, I don't know why they wouldn't, the crowd loved 'em.
