Anything that brings this style of music to the mainstream audience is a good thing. Think of the possibilities of a young Kid Rock fan being inspired to pick up a guitar and learn to play after hearing Davy, or even Ricky Medlocke/Gary Rossington  of Skynyrd. I find it strange how anyone would think this to be a bad thing, as it's a win win situation, and it will pick up the band undoubtedly many new fans. Say what you want about Kid Rock (and there's a LOT which can be said) but he has been quick to cite classic rock bands as influences and help out whenever possible, exposing them to new audiences they otherwise never would be exposed to. Anything that helps the genre of guitar based rock should be encouraged, no matter who's the one encouraging it. Otherwise all we'll be left with is bland pop diva wanna be's and rap, neither one of which is very conducive to guitar based music.

The only negative I see is if people don't show up early enough to see them. That is always a problem playing on a bill like that. Even if only 500 to 1000 show it is still good exposure for them at this point in their career. Then they got to seal the deal with a 30 minute set.

Of course the tour is a good thing, it gets BDS to an audience that would not normally get a chance to see them. Look at the band's website, they are clearly happy to have got this tour. Some people may not be there to see them, but with the good publicity the band have generated for themselves, I'm sure many will ensure they are there to hear them. We will have some indication by looking at their forum, if they get new fans raving about performances, then that will be an indication they have done the right thing. I'm sure they'll be vindicated. If they prove themselves to be a good support act on this tour, I'm sure support slots with other (better) artists will follow. Get well soon Davy!

Re: BDS

The BDS guys are certainly working very hard and it seems to be paying off. I really can't wait for them to come and do a tour over here in their second home!

By the way when I was listening to Planet Rock this morning I think I heard Alice Cooper say, on a trailer for his show tomorrow morning, Back Door Slam. It's on from 6-9am.  I start work at 6.30 so I'll be keeping my ears peeled!

Tripsy smile

Re: BDS

I opened up my August issue of "Guitar Player" and there was an interview with Davy in the "Riffs" section.  I'd post the online link, but I couldn't pull up back issues. The current issue is September I think.

Major Tom to ground control...
