Topic: AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27

Just announced at www.ac-dc.net:

* AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27.

* New single Runaway Train to be released late August.

* A mammoth world tour will start in America in November.

AC/DC's new album, most probably entitled "Black Ice," will be released by Columbia Records on October 28th in North America and 27th in the rest of the world. The first single, "Runaway Train," which was also a contender for the album's title, will be released in late August. Details for a world tour starting in late 2008 should be announced sometime next week, as well as details of the band's inclusion in the next version of the video game "Rock Band."

Re: AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27

I like "Runaway Train" much better as the album title. "Black Ice" sounds kind of goofy. Black Ice is a term we use in Florida (maybe everywhere else too?), where the roads get slippery when it rains. What does that have to do with AC/DC?
"Runaway Train" sounds very AC/DC to me.

Who lives next door to Angus?...can you ask him to sign one of the disc...and beg him to come to Cali...I'm dead serious....I'll even pick them up at the Sacramento airport in a limo...again dead serious...never seen them live!

Oh, goodie news! I like the sound of the word "mammoth world tour" .... big_smile

Can you listen to a preview track or something somewhere? And what is the current Band lineup (Sorry if that´s a stupid question, but you can easily loose track with a Band like AC/DC ... wink) ?

Eva

Edited to add: Shred, that´s Andre !

I know we covered this already, but just to clarify...

Is this going to be sold ONLY at Walmart, or at all stores and "exclusively" at WalMart??? hmm

There's a posting about that on the band's website which I gave in my first comment. As I don't live in the USA I did not bother to read it.

Eva, the AC/DC line-up is unchanged from the last couple of albums - only the drummer has changed in the last 28 years.

Personally I have to say that I much prefer the AC/DC recordings done with Bon Scott. He was not only a better vocalist and lyricist, but the songs were more bluesy and had more variety. Which Johnson replaced the sadly deceased Scott, the band seemed to get stuck in a rut.
Would still love to see them live and I know there are many AC/DC fans on here so I thought you'd want to know this news.

Re: AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27

I saw them on the "For Those About to Rock" tour (maybe '82?) and they were great. They had the cannons firing and started the concert with Brian Johnson ringing the big bell for Hell's Bells. I've never seen anyone since who moved around more than Angus for the entire concert. He would occasionally go off the side of the stage and suck down oxygen while continuing to play.

Re: AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27

This could be true, or bull...

More AC/DC album details
The antiMusic website has received the following AC/DC update from someone who claims to be an insider at Sony Music.

The website says it's not 100 per cent sure of the veracity of the following news, but here goes anyway:

AC/DC have announced the complete tracklisting for their long-awaited new album, Dirty Rhythm (so it's not called Black Ice, then?):

1. Serious Nuclear Screamer 2. Run Away From Black Ice 3. The Ripper 4. 9 Days In Spider's Trap 5. Rock 'N' Roll Defenders 6. Love Madness 7. Long Way To Go 8. RAW 9. Heat It Up 10. Crawlin' 11. Tornado Suicide 12. Caught In A Riff 13. The Legacy

Dirty Rhythm is set to be released October 27/28 of this year and will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart Stores in the US. The first single Run Away From Black Ice will be released next month, on August 24.

AC/DC's world tour will kick off in New York City on January 1, 2009.

Time will tell if the above is true or not. Or as the late Bon Scott would probably have said: "Suck it and see."

What can I do to prepare to get insider tickets etc. now? This is NOT something I will miss.

Always liked AC/DC, but never been to sure about Brian Johnson, dunno what it is.  Perhaps it was when I saw them at Wembley Arena and Brian was  extolling the crowd to sing She's Got The Jack "with feeling" -  he wasn't joking either (or perhaps he was and I've misjudged the Geordie broken glass gargler).

Re: AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27

Rollingstone.com has posted a short description of the new AC/DC's album, Black Ice, which will be available on October 21st. Here's their report:

"AC/DC singer Brian Johnson promised that they’d tour in 2008. Well, he wasn’t kidding. Soon they’ll begin rehearsals in a secret location, before hitting US arenas in late fall. We heard this news at the Sony HQ on New York’s Madison Avenue, before hearing all 15 tracks of the band’s earthshaking new Black Ice, recorded in Vancouver in just eight weeks with Brendan O’Brien. On it, Brian wails about skies on fire, blood in his eyes, storms raging, lightning flashes, hard rain and pretty women. Angus Young shreds throughout (we dig his slide work on 'Decibel'), and the rhythm cats — Malcom Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd — are solid as a rock. The first single is 'Rock ‘N Roll Train'; 'She Likes Rock ‘N Roll' will be a stripper anthem; and 'War Machine' (our favorite) will tear you to pieces."

Black Ice is AC/DC’s first studio album in eight years. It was recorded in Canada at BRYAN ADAMS’ studio under the production guidance of Brendan O’Brien. It will be the band’s 15th studio album. Their last album was Stiff Upper Lip in 2000.

Black Ice will be a Wal-Mart exclusive release in the US.

The band's upcoming 18-month world tour is expected to kick off on Halloween (October 31st) in Chicago.

Re: AC/DC's new album Black Ice will be released on October 27

Seen these guys a few times, with Bon Scott and with Brian Johnson. Agree that Bon Scott had the edge. Best concerts (2) were at the Empire in Liverpool, but best experience had to be when they were supporting the Who at Wembley, alongside the Stranglers and Nills Lofgren. He He, did you know that our Michael has seen AC/DC nearly as many times as he's seen Joe?? Michael just recognises a class act and then haunts them. LOL!
