Re: I gotta say....

Hey Joe:

Count me and Deborah as fans that will follow you to the ends of the earth and help promote what you got goin on. You have provided us with so many hours of great music. You have stayed true to your roots. You provide such a good role model for the young musicians to follow. The sense of community with the other fans from around the USA and Brazil and Europe is awesome.
It is tough that a few a$$ holes have to use this Message Board to spread crap around.

I have seen nothing but the hardest workin band in the world each time I have been able to take in your shows. I think my pulse about doubles when you and the boys take the stage and lay it all on the stage. You hold back nothin. Your sound check song is better that most encores by other blues bands. You hooked me the first time I heard you on the Sunday Night Blues Show here in Portland with Bob Ancheta. I was instantly aware that there was something special happening, and I needed to go to The Roseland and witness it myself. That was 4 years ago, and I still am stunned when you strap those beautiful guitars across your shoulder and take us fans from the front of the stage-me and Deborah, as well as those that are choosing to sit, on a rocket ride that is tough to let go when the time to end the show comes around. And then you come back out for an encore or two that stretches the original song in so many directions, that it is impossible to do anything other than stand and cheer with your jaw dropped.

You always deliver for us fans even when you have been draggin in from a plane flight from hell, or from a long night in another city or state. I would dare anyone to try and keep up with you and all the performing and traveling and BITS that you do.

I really appreciate that you take some time after each show to do a meet and greet. That makes us fans feel a part of the action. I look forward to that time with you as a way to communicate my appreciation for all that you do.
I have turned a lot of people on to your music, and will continue to do so.

Once again, I hope you have a kick a$$ tour in UK and Europe. They deserve a good dose of RockinBlues.

Don't give up on us or get discouraged. We are there for you.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe you ARE a class act, and PLEASE don’t let 1%’ers get you down. You have the other 99% ready to fight tooth and nail for you. There has been, and always will be those few, ready to piss in your Wheaties just because they are hateful, hurtful miserable people. I worked with about a thousand of ‘em at Exxon!

I know you were sick enough to be in the hospital when you were in Houston, and you still did the radio show and the gig. You played and sang your heart out, and that’s what I call dedication and integrity. Thanks Joe, from all of your hard core fans. We will always be here.

Don’t change who you are Joe and fuk the 1%’ers and the horse they rode in on.

Hello Mr. Bonamassa
I think that anybody who trashes you should go f*** themselves. Don't listen to them and after this tour take a break, sit back, smoke a delicious dominican cigar, and live it up.

P.S.
I think you know my drummers singer Rocker AJ, you met him at Springfest i think in Pensacola.

Re: I gotta say....

JOE - if you ever decide to hang it up, give me advance warning.  I want to get my doc to write me a Proaz prescription before it's all gone because believe me, many of us would need it.  You brighten my day whenever I put in one of your CDs, whenever I go to one of your shows, whenever I read about you or tell others about you or tell others about you, and when I do, I find they already know abaout you.  You put the blues back in my soul and I will be forever grateful for that.  You are loved by many more than those who criticize you.  I can't imagine how you keep up the schedule that you do and always allow time for the fans to get up close to you.  I don't think you really understand how very much we all love and appreciate that and YOU.  Keep doing what you're doing but take yourself a break when you can.  Have a blast in Europe and ENJOY!

Re: I gotta say....

Joe, as longtime fans of yours & veterans of at least 20 shows, both local & long distance,
this makes me sick to my stomach that people, I'm having trouble finding words here, are
pulling up such GARBAGE as what I'm reading & how dare them..Kevin & I have seen time
and time again how hard you work on a daily basis, sick or well,  & you deserve the bus &
everything else you have worked so hard for. I'm appalled at what I see here, please don't
let it bother you as that is not coming from us who know you as we know you to be the hardest
working guy in the business. We wish you all the best all the time, you deserve it! Janis & Kevin

Re: I gotta say....

hey everyone-
haven't posted in a while...pretty active yesterday...i aggree with the fact that you (joe) have become a ton more successful (since we've met) and because of that, more emotions will flow. sure, we are all entitled to our opinion based on musical ability and behavoir, but sheer attacks of personality cross the line. people close to you know you, people that aren't don't. stay true to what you do...you are a great musician and person...and when the heck are you coming to portland again????
enjoying every bit of it-

Re: I gotta say....

Hey Joe.

At least fans aren't criticizing your playing skills or the quality of the show.  If they are criticizing your get-up, so be it.  They are just jealous they aren't a rock star like you.

I'm a fan of Ryan Adams, and he gets tons of crap from fans on his message board all the time.  He gets accused of being drunk onstage and sounding like hell.  So at least you aren't getting accused of being wasted onstage!

Re: I gotta say....

Amen Joe.

I hope that my pals Visitor an Kristine saw that.

I really hope we can start getting back into having fun on this board like we used to.  I'm tired of being mean...especially since I am on vacation right now.

Hope everyone is doin well.

Re: I gotta say....

I would like to say something here.  I am a huge fan of BLS and one day (many days) people would complain on the boards that all the albums are the same and the same riffs and leads etc….
One day the other guitar play for Zakk got on the board and started arguing with boards members and it got out of hand.  It was very unprofessional and Im pretty sure Zakk got on him about it and then never posted again. My opinion is that even if Joe is frustrated he should have the admins (if there are any) do the posting for him (Im referring to negative posts, not the general JB update posts).
Joe Bonamassa is a business.  The name is the business and I feel there is too much risk for him to come on here and justify/defend himself.  This I the life JB decided to have and that comes with the good and the bad.  Make a couple of us admins and we’ll weed out the bad posts from the good ones.
I just think its bad business for JB to come on here and defend himself.  He doesn’t need to, he’s our leader.  We will do that for him.  But some of the regulars here need admin capabilities to keep this board under control

Just my opinion

I'm a very late bloomer on this topic.  Can anyone email me the link Joe's original post was in reply to??

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

I agree.  Especially since some people (non-fans) just like to stir things up with forums.  Having people respond (especially Joe) to them just makes them happy & keeps them active.

However, the fact that Joe does post & does get frustrated with the crap all goes to show that he is just a regular guy afterall.  How many of us could resist getting frustrated & not post our disappointment?

Joe:  You the man!  You don't need to respond, we'll take care of that for ya.

Re: I gotta say....

Hey Joe,

I'm, just a "Joe-Anybody" from NJ.  Typical fan probably.  I'm a middle aged family man...hard workin'...weekend guitar hobbiest.  I have a geat life, but it's kind of routine most of the time.  There is very little I get excited about these days.  One exception is seeing you play live and hearing new CD's when they are released.  You have inspired and entertained me like few others I have witnessed.  Just know that you are appreciated.  When all the crap gets to you (as it gets to us all) just remember there's someone out there in NJ - and COUNTLESS other places around the globe - who is relaxing or jamming along to one of your tunes or eagerly waiting to see your show the next time you swing through town.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe...... Torqdog here.

I'm sorry to hear things have gotten worse on the board. To be honest, I have stayed away from your forum for quite some time now. I was really getting fed up with the crap that seemed to proliferate itself(no, I'm not referring to Bill from Utah's insights on life. After all, He's ALWAYS had nothing but good things to say about you and your playing). I'm referring to the same thing that got your dander up...... needless, childish, self indulgent criticism. It soured the whole reason for wanting to participate on your forum, so I quit.

Now you, on the other hand, have got to put your chin up and let all this roll off of you. You have a wonderful career ahead of you and to hear you even thinking of "hanging it up" is simply silly. You are in the public spotlight now and are a "target" for anyone who's either "put-off" by your exceptional playing and demeanor or is just flat out jealous that you might be going somewhere. Think about how tough it must be for movie stars, always in the spotlight, always on the front pages of the "pop-culture" mags. and always meat for the "rumor-mill". They survive and go on with their lives, regardless.
Well, the "Dog" has probably barked enough........ hang-in there dude, this too shall pass.

Randy (torqdog) Spiker

BTW; We loved your show at Crystal Bay Casino and look forward to your speedy return. Your latest CD is still burning my ears. Vivian & I think it's your best by far........ very inspired my boy!!!!!!

Loud music doesn't cause hearing loss...... Commercial "wimp music" does and causes brain cramps as well.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

You are my hero!!  I have looked up to you every since that day when I saw you playing on the back of that tractor-trailer truck in Utica, NY.  I wrote you a letter and you wrote me back with an autographed picture of you and your guitar, Rosie.   I have always thought of you as not only an amazing musician but a class act.  I remember when the cable company in Utica gave everyone free Disney channel because you were going to be on.  I've lost track of how many times I drove for hours, to see your show.  From the first time I heard you, I have been a fan.  Your autographed picture of you and Rosie still hangs on my wall.  I consider it one of my most cherished posessions.

You deserve some time off.  It's ok to do that you know?!  You've earned it!  I think your fans will always be here.  I know I will be.  Forever man!!  Do what's right for you.  You don't have to be "Always on the road".  Take some time for you!  Your fans will be here waiting for you, happy knowing you are taking care of yourself.

The fact that people are being hyper-critical of everything you do is the price of fame.  Don't let it get to you.  Your fans know who you are, and love you for what you do and just being you.

Take some time for Joe!  I would!

Re: I gotta say....

I agree that you should just let it pass.  Hell, you know you are successful when you start to get criticism.  Who cares right?  Watch the people that follow you ... they adore the hell out of you guy!  Knocking what you wear...tour bus?  WTF is that?  Blow it ALL off.  You are becoming a huge success and unfortunately it comes with the territory.  I think you have some pretty hard core loyal fans.  I've been following you around for six years now and hope like heck you find the strength to keep going.  As long as you do, I'll be there buying your tickets, merch, and cd's.  Can't wait to see you in Ft. Wayne in December ( if I can wait that long ).  I'll make sure to wash my hands before I shake yours if we still are fortunate enough to have the access.  YOU DA MAN JOE!!!

PS..  Just a side note..  I follow the jamband scene and it used to be I'd mention your name and everyone would say "who"   .. now they say..  "Bonamassa...that guy rocks!"  People know you...  word is out there.

Dream:  Bonamassa/Haynes team up on a project ....   ( I know, I know.. different music but hey..doesn't hurt to dream does it? )

Re: I gotta say....
