Buy the R9 if that's what does it for you! You can always sell your kids on ebay!

If I could do it, without the wifey knowing, I'd done it already!

I guess Ill just have to save my pennies.

What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wild beasts sweeping majestically over the fields?

Ah - just trying to be clear about the antecedant of "it" as in "if i could do it..."
Buy the guitar, or sell the kids, or both?

Might have to send you to bluesman's thread about fathers day!!!

I never thought about doing both... Thanks for the tip!

By the way, I actually have found a cheaper alternative. I tried out a GOW Gibson, the LP 295. I really like the neck, and the bridge humbucker really soars, when I crank up my amp. The front pickup, however, is a little dull. Guess I'll have to replace it with a burstbucker.........

Of course there's a cheaper alternative, with the same fat neck (maybe a tiny bit fatter), and crispy "überdelightly" tone... It's an R8!
Same guitar, except for the fancy flame top. It has a beautiful plain top. I love mine! big_smile (see my lemonburst avatar).

I actually got into Les Pauls by playing an R8. I allmost bought one, but I knew, that I would never be satisfied with a plain top. A Les Paul without flames is like... Donuts without sprinkle!

I don't get it. First you're saying that an R9 is out of your budget and you are looking for an alternative, then you say that you're willing to pay $2500 extra for a flame top? hmm

Thats just me in a nutshell. My apologies tongue
