She's a hot property now. Brilliant management.

I've been thinking exactly that, Rick. I'm not quite sure how they managed it, but they're certainly on a roll. Getting the black-haired bass player who's also got legs in the band was a stroke of genius. There's almost an 'Abba-like' (shudder) feel to them on these tv clips. Maybe that's why they deliberately made an album that crosses over numerous genres.
I totally understand why many here have a problem getting into Grace. I suffer almost constant pangs of conscience, when a little voice says, 'hey, this is pop music', and most of me agrees. Then the other voice kicks in and says,'yeah, but you didn't get into GPN with this music, you got into the older, 'heavier', 'bluesier' stuff, and you got into it live - hell of a difference'. My first taste of GPN was the copies of their two D.C. shows in 07 that Tarus 52 kindly gave me in 08. I re-discovered the cds earlier this year, and suddenly I was seriously hooked. The rest.....has been obvious here.
I have never been able to see them live because they've never been over here, where they really are totally unknown. But going by everything I've seen on youtube, this band does a killer live show that is very, very different to the polished sound of the current album, which is getting so much media attention and possibly starting their path to (inter-) national recognition.
So, I've decided not to 'condemn' them for producing something so potentially 'mainstream', but just to sit back and dig the tunes I like most and wait for my chance to ogle Grace in the flesh. I mean, let's be honest, this woman is seriously HOT. Why shouldn't she become the next Debbie Harry, for example?
Good luck to her!
