Topic: Bonamassa-fever in your families?

Hey guys,

As you might have noticed already - my dad has finally joined the forum smile.
So I thought I´d ask you about your families ... has the Bonamassa-fever spread there too or do they just roll their eyes when they hear the name Joe?!

I finally caught my mum too - by recording her endless compilations with the slower Joe tunes lol ... I mixed some of the more rocking songs in from time to time and now she´s hooked. She came up to me maybe a week ago and said "Oh, I love that tune - what´s it called ... it goes da-da-daaa-da-daaaa ... "I don´t know too much about love Babe" ...". I said "Mum that´s Blues deluxe by Joe Bonamassa" - now she´s coming with me to Liverpool smile.

First thanks for the DVD! Very good quality, you did a terrific job!!

In my family the Bonavirus is there too because I 'm busy with it most of the time.

Talking, phoning  Geko, George, emailing alot of forummembers, sending Cd's/DVD's , pictures from shows, the shows, the wines etc. etc.
Corine watches the forum everyday now and likes the way we all communicate! Especially when Joe is on. Compliments to all of you Bonabuddies!

In the beginning my wife Corine and the children laura and Bram taught I was getting crazy but they changed their mind.
Corine talks with george Amsterhammer , puts the pictures on the computer, likes Sloe Gin. Bram says hello to the joeposter every morning.
Only mLaura is not really into Joe. Firts time she saw a picture of Joe years ago when he had longer hair , she taught he was a woman!!!
Straight to bed as you all understand!!!

Well I really can say that Joe is a part of our family!!

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spreading the word of Joe here!

Oh yes, Joe fever has definitely spread to the rest of my family. When I first discovered Joe the first people I spread the word to was my three sisters. I sent them all a copy of Blues Deluxe straight away and got them all to go to Pacific Road Arts Centre for our Bonabaptism in 2006.
My Mum has a copy of You and Me which she really likes and she is 80 years old.
I also have a cousin in South Wales who has just recently seen Joe at Cardiff for the first time and she thought he was great and so smartly dressed!
My sons unfortunately can't see the attraction. Can't understand it. If I was a man I would be wondering if they were really my offspring!!

The best thing is that being a part of this forum is like being a member of one big happy, Bonaddicted family. Somewhere where you can gush about Joe's music without fear of any eye rolling.

My son JJ has a ticket stub displayed in his room that says Happy Birthday JJ......JB. Joe was kind enough to send my son a birthday greeting the first time we met since they share the same birthday 12 years apart. As far as listening I think my son got burned out by me playing nothing but Joe for about two years every time we went somewhere in my truck. On one particular trip to Tahoe I played Bloodline over and over since I had just gotten it from Amazon the day before the trip. Fortunately for him and his friend who came with us his DVD player has dual earphone jacks so they watched two seasons worth of The Family Guy.

Very cool to hear how the "fever" is spreading!  Unfortunately I can't say the same...my kids are only 9, 9, and 6 and aren't really into music yet.  And I can't get my husband to listen to much else aside from The Grateful Dead.  sad  He'll listen to Joe when we're in the car as I'm the queen of the CD player lol but he wouldn't ever listen to any of "my" music if I didn't put it on.

2 of my nephews know about Joe and liked SILT best as it sounded a bit more like mainstream rock.  A younger nephew (coincidentally named Joe) likes him a bunch, but he's too young to go to concerts (according to his Mom).  The rest of my family doesn't exactly think I'm nuts, but don't quite get the degree of my attachment to Joe's music.  Oh well, not everyone can be blessed with such wonderful taste. :-)

My son started playing a couple years ago and his first 2 concerts were JOE B shows.I never tried to force it down his throat (I don't think)but I have let him put on more of what he likes when riding in the car or camping. He does still listen to Joe and at least one of his friends appreciates him.

My family just dont get it!...my younger brother has seen Joe, but isnt "crazed"' like myself.....I quit sending them any "joe" mails, they all just dis on me...we had a family get together for a nephew a few weeks back....were at this large round table, and they start in on me..."hey you gonna see that "Joe"...whats his name? ha ha ha anytime soon"....so I just shook my head in disapointment.....I dont want to hear them kissing my behind when he's world famous!....guess I'm the only cool cat left in the entire family...what the hell happened to theses peeps???

I know what you mean Dave. It's hard to understand why some people just don't get it when you yourself get it with such a passion. Never mind you have your other family right here and we all get it big time!

Uh...... Dave, I hate to bring up a potentially embarrassing subject, but, just how much of Joe's show DID your brother actually 'see'?  As I recall the story, he'd had a bit too much of the celebratory stuff by the time Joe hit the stage, and didn't 'see' much more than the top of the table.  Aren't WE lucky that someone in your family got ALL the good genes, AND the smarts AND the 'cool'?!!!  Yessiree Bob we are!!!

My oldest son started playing guitar at 11 years old.It took him about 5 years to surpass my guitar playing ability. He's 20 now and a pure heart-attack on a six string. I turned him onto Johnny Winter,Jimi Hendrix,Jimi Page ,Eric Clapton,Leslie West,SRV,etc.... After 6 years had passed, he started turning me onto Howlin Wolf, Fredie King,Robert Johnson,Johnny Lee Hooker,B.B.King, Waren Haynes,Sonny Landreth...... The list goes on.......and oh yes did I fail to mention.......you guessed it ...JOE BONAMASSA!!!!!!!

I'd try my brain implant surgery that I developed as a part-time brain surgeon working at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls on them, but they're still a little young. In addition, they will put up hundreds of posters for a Joe show when he comes to town. Man, this has saved me a lot of time and money. I mentioned this fact in my resume that the Street Team wanted. But I figure they wouldn't believe that I'm a renowned part-time brain surgeon, so they won't post that information on the Street Team website. I figured I'd let you all know and that I do make house calls too. Hey, I'm not going to work that much longer for AT&T and I just figured I'd make a good brain surgeon!

My 17 year old nephew who I turned on to Joe about 5 years ago started playing guitar. I got him the Joe's tab book for Christmas. The kid tackled Blues Deluxe then Faux Mantini. His patience must be applauded. Very big Joe fan to say the least. Usually brings his friends to shows here.

My youngest who is a guitar player as well. With out the patience to tackle Joe's tab book I got him as well says he has already come to grips with the fact he will never play like Joe. All his college buddy's a fans of Joe now.
They came to the last show here on graduation day a group of about 20.

My oldest son and his wife are fans as well. Their son has been raised loving music. He has amazing rythum for an almost two year old. When he comes into the office he points at the stereo for music. I just happen to always have Joe cued up. He loves to dance.

My brother who is responsible for introducing me to Joe is a fan but not quite as fanatical as I. Still does his part as an unofficial Street Team member. I can always count on him to bring several new people to shows.

My lovely wife who allows my obsession never really got Joe's music until the last time in Vegas. She said Sloe Gin gave her goose bumps. She hadn't seen Joe with the new band so the difference was drastic to her she really liked the classier look and commented on how good Joe's voice is. She still is more likley to be listening to Carly Simon than Joe but she knows why I'm a fan.

I will be taking the lovely & talented MsTia, joe college #1 son Ryan (guitarist); trackstar scholar/athlete #2 son Sean (drummer who plays piano) and my favorite daughter volleyball captain all star Sarah (pianist extraordainaire & arguably the most tecnically proficient musician in the family) to Joe-ksonville on Fri night to see the boys.

No fever here.
