Re: Caveman's Diary Update

Well I guess most of you blew right by Tripsy's comment and observation about Joe's live album.

I read the diary too and I am concerned. A new studio album in the works is great, but aside from the Shepherd's bush EP (for lack of a better description) the sound on most of the bootlegs is not particularly good (Amager Bio a noteable and possible exception) and I know many of you are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the live album.

It is great that Joe got to meet EC, but what did that comment about the live album mean? Is the release date no longer valid? And how come it isn't available for pre-order yet?

How about it Joe? What's up with the live album????????

Nothin' but the Blues

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

Wow, great that Joe FINALLY got the respect from Mr. Clapton himself! Can you say "Crossroads"?! Better start saving even MORE money now! lol

Well, the Live Album - when Issy and I met Joe in Berlin, Joe was interviewed for a Turkish magazine and was asked about new releases coming up. So he talked about some songs being half ready for the recording of the new album in May and said that it will probably come out 2009.
So I asked "What about the Live album?" and Joe said something very similar ... that it´s all not completely sure yet. To me personally he sounded like the album will come out but maybe not in June and maybe not the way it is now ... he didn´t say that, but he sounded like he´s not completely content with it yet. But that´s just my impression.
Let´s hope for the best! smile

Eva,
My first thought when I read about Eric and Joe was "Crossroads"! I read through this topic wondering if anybody was thinking the same thing. That would be so cool, because we all know that Joe belongs there.

Great news...I think it's so cool that Joe got to meet EC and needed a couple drinks to bring him back to Terra Firma!
Way to go Joe!

I'm looking forward to the HD vid of the "making of". Joe and EC now what would you pay to see the two greats together on stage?

Me too.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

Very good news!!!

EC will have a very positive influence on Joe's career if they will do something together or when he mentiones him in magazines etc.

Crossroads would really be great.

Hope Joe will tell some more about it when he returnes to the USA.

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

Joe and Eric would be great but don't expect another Crossroads anytime soon, after talking to Sonny Landreth,he seems to believe that it will be a couple of years before we see another one. Bob

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

I downloaded the Itunes "ep" of Shepherds Bush, basically becasue I was there in the front row with Michael, it would be "studio quality" and it would bring back lots of memories - and it did too! I have sat back a little since, reflected on what's happened over the last couple of months and the comment on Kevin's website didn't come as a great surprise to me.

There was a delay with Sloe Gin if you remember, probably for different reasons! I'm more of the opinion now however, that Joe is taking a month off touring and is probably scheduled to spend some time with Kevin in the Studio, probably with Rick, Carmine and Anton / Bogie working on some new stuff. Only when he has had time to "catch his breath" and see what they can produce that's new, will he make a decision on wehther to release a new album or the live double album they have all but completed. Let's face it, whether we like it or not, there is planty of live stuff out there, some of it pretty tasty too, to satisfy the rabid Joe fan, plus lots of live footage on You tube, which dispite it's poor quality (no offence Michael) it's not studio or commercial quality but it's what has got a lot of us baying for more. My feeling is there will be a new studio album before the end of the year and the preferred live album will be of the Royal Albert Hall Performance(s)?. Nowhere in particular may, or may not, follow at a later day.

Just my three penneth, but what do I know!

Explain both please...and where did you find that avatar-I've been looking for a Joe Cool one for a while, although I'd like one of him at the campus drinking fountain...

Well where online did you find that rumor Lee?  I'd doubt seriously it is cancelled altogether.  I had doubts about a live release prior to a follow-up to Sloe Gin, thinking it would be OK to have us offered a live release of retro-active material after a new release lacking in anything to be found in the subsequent live release.  We can start the speculation game, which is always fun or more often funny, at the very least entertaining or entertaining pipe dreams,...when no one knows including Joe himself!!!

Hi Lee. Great news about Joe meeting Eric. I'm concerned about the last comment he made about Joe's live album. Is it on or off, he wasn't sure. What did he mean by this!!??

Tripsy

Hi Tripsy,
I'm concerned about the live album as well. I found a statement online indicating that the new live album may have to be canceled, but I haven't brought it up on the forum because I wanted to wait for a definitive answer from Joe on the issue. I'm sure we will learn more shortly.

Stay tuned......

Edited to add: The statement I read wasn't from Joe.

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

OK Cathy, refer me toward the blurb about the audience being taken out of the mixdown.  Where's that from? Given the music is more important than the audience (we shall see that maybe the Royal Albert Hall shall be an exception to that, and perhaps, to start my own rumor, may be the source of auxilliary material to augment that already recorded, or to double rumor-inate, to preempt totally the fall 2007 material)... I always have "previously released" and "previously recorded live" material (official & bootleg), to keep my patience and faith levels long & high, respectively.

Many thoughts.....Glad that Joe and Eric had a face to face. Those 2 together..wow...How far do I need to travel??? The "Live" CD on hold..I trust Joe's judgement. There must be reasons. I was really uncomfortable with the way it was being described anyway. The blurb about taking the audience out, etc.....well, we know when we get a new "product" from Joe, it will be stellar. Thanks for the heads up Lee.   Cathy

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

Me three.  Ponder the fact a behind the scenes being part of the project AT ALL a bit and for a mesmerizing spell... Perhaps this is not going to be "JUST"another "hit it out of the park" effort by Joe & Co. & Caveman...
Maybe they are "shootzing the moon" this time around.
Eh hmm?!

Well, since the cat is out of the bag so to speak, here's the link to the information I read:

http://www.mascotrecords.com/?pv=1

Check the news headline dated 03/21/08. That link goes here:

I also sent an e-mail to Provogue Records asking if they merely meant the album was "postponed" and they indicated that a final decision had not been made.

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

Well Provogue getting "early bird" treatment has been a mainstay for a while now, so that cat has been roaming the forum back alley for a while now anyway-nice find to bring it to the forefront Lee.  To the point though, their site has cancelled ONLY the planned release date and have no further info... Long time fans know, this is pure Joe doing what he does best, thinking before, during, and even after acting, always reserving the right of self-determination...You find anything new out, hit us with the update.  Thanks Lee.

That's why I didn't really want to bring it up before. But after seeing the Caveman mention it, the level of my concern went up just a little.

Re: Caveman's Diary Update

This is the one drawback to being so in touch with a musician. Things change, you decide you wanna go in a different direction, but if that direction has already been telegraphed, it might ruffle some feathers. I do hope they come out with the live album, that is something I think needs to happen.

But if that's the only drawback, I suppose we'll all be fine. smile
