The reference to the war is from Fawlty Towers, as I was sure Geoff would recognize. big_smile

Rounders is kind of like first generation baseball, played by young kids in Britain.

Biggest Yankee fan of alltime to have never put one foot in New York....1953...Mickey Mantle, puts one off the facade 563 feet...one foot from being the only ball to leave Yankee Stadium completely!!!....1968, Mickeys last year, saw him in Oakland, just stared at him the whole game....dont remember anything except he didnt homer sad

Looks like my memory failed me...but my childhood hero will never leave my thoughts. In my opinion the longest homerun ever, was hit in Florida by Andres Gallaraga of the Colorado Rockies. If you ever get a chance to see tape of it, it looked like it was shot out of a cannon! The ball was still rising when it hit a seat in the top deckdeck of Proplayers Stadium ( I think thats where the Marlins play)

Re: Baseball, Anyone?

Anyone catch the Yankee game today...I got a couple of pix sent to my phone from my niece visiting Yankee Stadium for the first time....Boston won 7-5 with the help of 2 Manny Ramirez home runs, he passed the legendary Lou Gehrig on the alltime home run list with homer number 494 then 495...then it got real interesting in the 7th inning, Yankee reliever Kyle Farnsworth and all around bad guy! threw a 97 mph fastball behind Ramirez neck....wait until the Yanks get to Boston, Alex Rodriguez better come down with the "flu bug", because he's probably going to get one in his ear!....I love baseball, so much macho bull***t, egos all over the place smile
