Me too Muddy! (2 roads off 94, not a dockbuilder/piledriver ) It sure is a small world. I never imagined meeting someone on this forum that lives in the wilderness with me.
Bears really won't bother you....unless its MaMa and her cubs!!
I had a pretty scary encounter walking into the woods behind my house one day;
it was Spring, and the skunk cabbage plants(bears love them) were pretty tall near my creek. Needless to say I saw MaMa Bear, but not the cubs. I kept walking, when she charged to within 10ft of me. I just kept facing her and SLOWLY backed away from her.
That's when I saw the cubs run up a tree. Now I always keep an eye out for the cubs before strolling non-chalantly through the woods.
I also have 2 boxers which pretty much keep everything away from inside their invisible fence. It probably took some getting used to, but you gotta love the country.
Take care
Muddy
Wow I had a dream last year almost exactly like what you described lol but I was trapped between momma and the cubs and had to run for my front door to escape. Yes I have this deep fear of bears. I would have had heart failure if that happened to me Muddy, seriously.
I took this pic last summer, I caught a visitor on my property.

I think it was shortly after seeing this that I had that dream.
I DO love it up here though. I now have some elbow room.
I have a great picture of about a close to 750-800lb male that strolled through my backyard on Fathers Day last year, but it is on my old computer....one of these days I'll plug in my old computer and e-mail the picture to myself so I can down load it into my new computer. I had saved it to a floppy, but my new computer just laughs at the words floppy disks.
I wish I had photobucket back then.....but I do get an awful lot of this in my backyard

Take care,

I'd love to see that pic...
Holy cow, I've plenty of deer here but NEVER saw a buck before...beautiful!!!
When the baby is old enough to wander around outside make sure to check for ticks. One of my kids got Lyme's disease over the summer.
This is the other wildlife we get a kick out of...a bunch of turkeys that dig my yard!

One got trapped in my garden and was gobbling it's fool head off. I went out there to try to get it out...and it was only when I was about 15 feet away from it did it remember that it had wings and flew out of there!
Hi Muddy...welcome aboard.
