Top of the afternoon to all of my forum friends!  Though I'm not as purely Irish as our own dear Patty Patrick, most of my blood does run fairly green, my hair flows auburn, my cheeks are rosy, I tend to be friendly to neighbors and strangers, and, I do LOVE a sad song.....and so, I'll leave you with a smile and a tear as I share three versions of one of my favorites, "Danny Boy".  Enjoy......

Re: St Patrick's Day

I'm wondering how many people realize St. Patrick wasn't exactly Irish? big_smile  He was born to a noble family in Britain during the dying Roman empire and his name was Patricus.  Technically he was a Roman!  He was kidnapped and brought to Ireland at 15, returned to his family in Britain, then returned to Ireland after being inspired to do missionary work, etc.  I went to a very Irish oriented grade school, this info never came up, but we spent alot of time doing the Irish jig and celebrated St. Patrick's Day for weeks. wink

I've always wondered about him.  The church says he influenced the Druids, I've often thought thta it might be the other way around. big_smile  a little give and take, if you will.  That part of the island was formidable and Brythionic at one time.  So maybe not from Wales proper,  but....

Hi Jeff,
I remember you saying your wife was Irish.  Before you started posting I mentioned my grandfather Joseph Boyle was from Donegal, I'm half Irish . My dad is Joseph Boyle, Jr....so bringing it back to Joe, I never met a JB that I didn't adore! smile  Except maybe Joe Beacon, because he won't share his Italian grandmother's recipe for cheesecake, which is customarily made on Easter, which is Sunday!  grumble, grumble...kidding king tapper... cool

My dad was Welsh and an assortment of other bad habits.  My mom was scot/irish and some churman although she claimed to be English cause the old woman (grandma) married a Stanfield/Harris...BAH!

Thank you Libby.  Yes LORD!  One of my old paramours told me about her when she was just 21.  "That young girl loves you Jeffery." said the mulatica.

Right after Christmas there was a gathering of b...witches in the kitchen and there was a little clucking going on when I came thru the door grumbling.  Somebody said how do you live with this old grouch?  After I went over and planted one on her and copped a feel, MsTia said "He treats me better than the rest of y'all."  Mother in law said "That's not saying much."   lol

"All he ever promised me was I would never be bored."  So I went and kissed all the rest of 'em too, including Nana who had been tasting the Zinfandel (bleah) and she got the giggles.

Then I left.

Sometimes I introduce MsTia as my trophy wife which really raises more questions.
