Topic: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Here are my piccies from Leeds last night. They're not as good as Geoff's would have been if he were there but I did take his advice about setting the ISO to 800. Thanks Geoff.
Unfortunately poor Crosby Loggins was too sick to perform. Get well soon matey

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Tripsy, they are absolutely terrific! Well done! I'm really going to have to try and pull out all the stops on Saturday at Newcastle, providing of course that Joe manages to get the venue to allow me in with a camera?????? See what you can do please Joe, if you are reading this??

Sorry you didn't get a chance to see Crosby, he is definately worth checking out - great guitar player!!

Michael, can you see if you can video capture Crosby's first number or the one about the dog!!!

This is a great set of pics!

Hi Tripsy. The pics are great. I was at the gig and managed to get a few decent shots. What camera were you using?

Thanks JonD. I've got a Fuji Finepix F30. I bought it because the reviews said it works especially well in low light conditions and I don't like to use a flash.
It takes good video too although it struggles with the sound when it gets really loud. Im still uploading my vids. Don't know how Michael did it so quickly!

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Thanks to you all for your kind words.
I think the internet is just the most wonderful thing ever invented. It really makes the world a smaller place and. It's great to be able to share your experiences with good people round the globe so easily.
Much love

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Tripsy - Your photos are GREAT and Joe has never looked better!  I need a new camera!!  Thanks for sharing.  Terrible to hear how ill Crosby must be.  Poor guy.  He's so nice.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Tripsy these are simply wonderful pictures and they would all look fab blown up and framed.  Gosh, there are some talented photographers on this forum.  Thanks for sharing them with us.

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Wonderful pictures Libby!!

You said you use a Fuji F30, I just bought the fuji F40fd a week ago and don't have much experience. I read about the ISO set to 800 before. How do you do that, when you set the camera on AUTO isn't that enough, with flash on?
YoU don't use the flash then?

Please can you help me with it?

I see Joe 3X the next weeks so that's why!!!

Thanks in advance,

Andre Wittebroek.

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Hi Andre, set your camera to manual, open the aperture as wide as it will go, set your ISO to 800 and try to keep your shutter speed above 1/60th of a second to avoid blur (ideally 1/125th. When framing the pictures, half press the shutter and check the exposure settings, aim to shoot a little on the under exposed side, which will keep the shutter speed up and (hopefully) give you some moody shots. Just experiment and take loads of shots - and post them up here for us all to drool over. Oh yes, be first in the queue to get a front location just to the right of Joe's mic stand! Perfect! Look for unusual shots of Dave and Aaron too(we know him as "chad" because all we can see during the concert is the top of his head over the mix desk at the back of the stage) With a bit of luck Rick may have taken our advice and swung his mic stand from the right to give you a better view of his face!

Good shooting!

If I'm alive when I'm 99 I'm still gonna be saying, "Remember 4th May 2009 when we saw Joe at the RAH... what a night that was!"

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Sorry Tripsy,

I made an unforgettable mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!

I typed the wrong name on top, Libby but it must be TRIPSY off course.....
That name Libby , it's so often on the forum the last 2 weeks, I can't keep it out of my head.

I said already Libby to my wife, the neighbours dog, the postman...........

Sorry I should have know because Libby doesn't even have a camera!!!!!!!!!
( thanks for telling me Libby)

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

No problem Andre, you're forgiven.
Anyway I've just logged on and seen Geoff's advice to you. There's no need for me to advise you now that the Master has spoken LOL. It was his advice I took in the first place! One thing's for sure, If I can get good results then anyone can.
Good luck
Libby
oops I mean Tripsy!!!

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

I was happy to tell Andre that the FAB pics were yours Miss Tripsy!

You guys are TOO funny!  And Andre, I do have a camera.......I just don't have anything uploaded - not something I've tried yet.  I'm pretty intimidated now too, even though I'm an artist, by all of the superb talent I've witnessed here.

P.S.  There you go.....now besides having my name running through your head, you'll have that blasted commercial jingle running around inside it too!!!

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Pictures from The Cockpit Leeds

Hi Libby
What's the commercial for? It's not one we get in England obviously. Probably just as well.!
