Re: Joe's Django a tribute to Django Reinhardt?

It's easier to hear Django's influence on guitarists like Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix if you check out Django's later electric guitar playing. Here's an example (copy, paste and remove the space between . and com )

Re: Joe's Django a tribute to Django Reinhardt?

From memory joe spoke about the song the first time he played the Albert Hall during an interview. It was inspired from a Django song but sounds nothing like his style.Reinhardt was a master and collaborated with violinist Stephane Grappelli. They played swing at the hot club de france, inspired by gypsy jazz gitane music. There was no brass, only strings which was fairly unique at the time.Django had a bad accident in a caravan fire, and his left hand was burnt and damaged. His riffs were played on 2 fingers. He had to adapt his style and learn to play again. Some of this can be seen on youtube. The collection of songs are available on cd.There are some good books on his life, and for me the one by Michael Dregni stands out, simply called Django. There are books on the songs and chords etc.For anybody who is a crap player like me,you can draw huge inspiration from the fastest 2 fingered player of all time.A gifted self taught genius who could not sign his own name. One of the best books iv'e read about a musician.Good luck to anybody who takes a look.
