The Bob Lefsetz Podcast

"Guitarist extraordinaire Joe Bonamassa opines on his upcoming couch concert from the Ryman on September 20th and also discusses his upbringing, his place in the musical landscape, how he and his manager four wall his shows and at the end we delve deeply into guitar collecting. Self-deprecating yet quick-witted, I could have talked to Joe for hours more. https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cH … F&ep=6

Re: Joe's Interviews

Joe has a big spread in the latest Classic Rock (281) - behind the Royal Tea recording. Some other (still living) guitar player on the front though, James Patrick Page....

"  Joe Bonamassa chats with Guitar Interactive Magazine's Jonathan Graham to discuss the brand new record. As usual, Joe has some fantastic stories of rare guitar finds, recording at Abbey Road Studios, the intricacies of 1958-60 era Gibson Les Pauls and much more, including his thoughts on the passing and legacy of Eddie Van Halen. Re: Joe's Interviews

Joe is the guest on the latest Eddie Trunk podcast.  It's a great interview so far (i'm about 20 minutes in), they cover a lot about Guitar Man and his history.  He was on the show earlier in the year, too.

[Edit] I had a chance to listen to the rest of it the other day, and he mentioned BCC looking to get back in the studio early 2022.  They had planned on doing it earlier, but covid pushed everything back.  Regardless of the timing, I'm happy to hear more BCC stuff is on the horizon.

Re: Joe's Interviews

"And to use blues numbers, let's start with a thousand dollars. Let's use blues numbers here, keep it real for the kids. The model is - we'd rather have 100 people at $10 than 80 people at $20...

"But where are you making more money? A hundred people at $10 is $1,000 at the door; 80 people at $20 is $1,600, and you're making more money.

"And now again, I don't want to sound like, 'Well, it's all about the dollars and cents.'

"But having extra cash flow in the business of music allows you to reinvest in yourself, reinvest in your fans, going, 'Hey, listen, I'm sorry we have to charge $20, but these lights are not free, and the gas to get us there is not free.'

"You want to have Anton Fig on the drums? You want to have Michael Rhodes on the bass? These guys don't come cheap...

"They think those $20 you pay at the door, that every single dollar goes to the artist, which you know that it's completely not true. And then you have the agents and the managers and everything else, it's just less cash flow to reinvest into not only yourself but in your fans.   "https://player.captivate.fm/episode/09a4d4b2-3cbc-4b51-8f55-28ce22cbd0ea

Re: Joe's Interviews

A friend alerted me to this....

Joe Bonamassa interviewed  by Kevin Cooper; “How is Blues in the UK?”
Jo Bonamassa said,  “While you’ve got Joanne Shaw Taylor, Chantel McGregor, and Rebecca Downes Blues in the UK is in a very good place”

I know Becs is well chuffed at this acknowledgement...

I was flipping through the mentions several days ago and read that Joe will produce Joanne's new album.
