Topic: my playing and amp question.

It's something I put together to a backing track.  It's pretty much one take, except for a 12 second edit in the middle. I've been playing about 4.5 years.  I'm now 42 and started with no musical background.  Opinions on the playing would be appreciated.

Also, I'm considering upgraded my amp.  Currently a Peavey ValveKing.
I'm looking at a Budda Superdrive 18,  Mesa Lonestar and Lonestar Special.
I've played both Mesa's and liked them, but need some opinions of the budda vs the mesa's since its difficult in finding one to try.  I liked the tone coming out of the Budda when Joe was playing one awhile back.

Re: my playing and amp question.

Keep up the good work.  Just keep practicing and experimenting with soloing/blues licks and chords, etc.  It's never too late to learn guitar!  You're doing good.

Good luck.

Re: my playing and amp question.

Sounds good. I think you should work on adding vibrato and bends to your solos.

I have a budda 45, but I've owned a couple of 30s which is the same as the 18 with fewer power tubes. They are the type of amps that will expose any mistakes you make, and cut through the mix in a band situation. I really love them. There's a few guys on YouTube with clips of Buddas, and they are very representative of their sound.

I don't own a mesa, but the one's I've tried seem very forgiving, with lots of sustain and gain on tap. I've never tried a lonestar.

Good luck and keep playing!

Tasty start.  What guitar are you playing?

Rock On & Keep the FAITH

Blues From the Bottoms

Re: my playing and amp question.

my guitar is a Peavey USA Limited HB.  I think these guitars are very underrated.  I think they came out about the same time as the wolfgang.

Re: my playing and amp question.

Great playing! Very tasty stuff. Just keep playing and it will just keep getting more and more fun.....The best advice I got when I was playing with other cats was "tell a story, whether it be with words or a guitar, tell a story."

Never played a Budda, but Joe could get a great tone out of a fork and fishing line! I wouldn't compare much with Joe. He knows exactly what he's going after tone wise. I would say the Budda and Lonestar are those kinds of amps. If you know what you like you can get THAT sound out of them. You can get a lot of different tones out of the Lonestar..but it has a lot of switches, buttons, inputs to mess with. All of them will change your tone (which is why it's a cool amp).....but could be overwhelming for some. It might be just the thing your looking for, as we grow as players we want more control of our sound which both of those amp will give you.

Keep on rocking!
