Re: Ben Robinson Band

No stay on your soapbox and rant on.  You're doing fine.

Since I probably know you (or you me) from the bank & blues, you email me if you want to continue this conversation.  I have found the best way to make a point is to make it.

If not, no hard feelings.

Have a nice day,
BigJeff

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Thanks, all is good.  I will see you there, the club says they are going to book him with his band.  I am very interested in that and his new songs.

Best!

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Excellent!  Maybe see you tonight.  I'll go early to jam.  Can't stay past my bedtime though, which is 9:00 on a school night.  HAH, I'll be very disciplined if I leave by 11.

Peace,
BigJeff

Re: Ben Robinson Band

BUMP....I got am e-mail from Blues Festival Guide today and there's a nice write-up about this kid. Of course, I'll have to listen via George's computer via MSN Live. But, I love the young ones. He has a web site now    www.benrobinson.com    Has anybody seen/heard him lately? I'm wondering if he's the one I see playing some wicked guitar on SNL????   Cathy
George just gave me a listen
If you go to the bottom of the article and click the "listen" button you'll get to hear a killer song..His voice reminds me of Johnny Lang...I LIKE this kid!
I think you have to sign up for the e-guide www.bluesfestivaleguide.com You can cancel after if you want

Re: Ben Robinson Band

I went to his website and listened to what I hope is his new album.  I heartily agree with the Jonny Lang observation, only Jonny's not doing stuff this good these days.  I like the new ones too and will try to find a way to get his music.  Thanks for mentioning !

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Thanks Bill for posting about Ben Robinson. I've just been listening to his stuff and I like what I'm hearing....I'm feeling another cd purchase coming on!

Hope he makes it over to the uk one day.

Tripsy smile

Re: Ben Robinson Band

I listened to a bit of this lad for the first time last night with Cathy, and I liked what I heard. Worth exploring, imo.

Re: Ben Robinson Band

I gave the kid a listen thanks to a recommendation from Cathy. She knows what I like.:)   Having said that I must say this guy is the real deal. He can play with the best of em.   Rock , Blues whatever. He's got it and I like it.  Thanks Cath

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Jeff,
I don't think you'll go wrong with this kid.  Pretty talented in my humble opinion.

Yep I think you're right Scott. Now if I could find some stuff on I Tunes.  I have this gift card that's been burning a hole in my hand.

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Yesterday I couldn't get his MySpace, but today it's up and this guy's considerably better than I thought.  Two songs, "Blue Sky" and "Heart of Stone" are just plain awesome.  And his "It Ain't Me" is a toe tappin', finger snappin' mother of a rocker.  Yep, sings like Jonny Lang which is a good thing, but he's also got some serious chops with his axe and those songs I mentioned slapped me in the face first listen.  When I get his album I'll make sure it finds its way to Pittsburgh, Jeff!  Geez is it just me or is there an avalanche of great blues gushing forth lately?
I'm in high cotten - thanks again Cathy and to whoever actually started this thread.

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Thanks Scott. I'm gonna keep looking around and see if I can get a hold of something from him.

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Hi Jeff,

Just thought I'd let you know that Ben's album is now available on iTunes.  There have been  many exceptional albums released already this year, but I think this one may be the best of the lot - at least for my particular tastes.  Ben Robinson is one fine guitarist/song-writer/singer.  The songs are a nice blend of power blues/rock to soulful acoustic ballads.  I'll also add the sound quality and restrained production greatly enhance the listening experience.
Like I've said before, there's a similarity vocally to early Jonny Lang, but others like Jeff Healey come to mind as well.  At 23, Ben's well ahead of most guitar phenoms.  This guy's the American equivilent to the U.K.'s Davey Knowles.

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Thanks for the heads up Scott.  I think I still have some avail funds in the I store. Speaking of I crap. I bought my first Apple product. Got an Ipod touch.  This thing is sweet. WIFI, all kinds of different apps available to install.  My new favorite toy.

Re: Ben Robinson Band

OK Scott,
Got the BR goods today. After the first listen it's very Johnny Lang like vocally.  No earth shaking guitar leads but very tastefully done. Me Likey!

Re: Ben Robinson Band

Jeff - I'm glad you like Ben's album already cause it's a grower as well.  The best thing I ever bought this decade has to be my iPod classic.  I don't leave home without it.  When the Touch flash memory hits 64 gigs I'll get one, but right now 32 isn't enough.
