Joe if you don't wear your floaties as extra protection even in the Dead Sea you may end up as lox (cured "cold-smoked" salmon) on an Israeli deli menu.

Hey Joe,
I knew there was a reason why I never chatted with you about swimming in the neighbor's pond.  I must admit I let out a lil' scream every time a fish "kissed" me.  smile

Joe,

Those "lurking" creatures are not in Wisconsin's fresh water lakes. The biggest and baddest thing we've got is a Muskie and they can't really get much bigger than a man. As long as when you swin you don't imitate a half-dying chub, you'd be OK. Also, don't wear really bright  swimming trunks, they may be drawn to that. Oh, and when you swin, don't splash around a lot. That just kind of makes them mad. On second thought, maybe you shouldn't go swimming in Wisconsin!

Why, all of a sudden, am I hearing the theme from "Jaws"? lol

Roy "We're Going To Have To Get A Bigger Boat!" BluesMan

I'm going to have to second this. Living in NE Wisconsin right on the Menominee River and Green Bay, you hear about beach closings and water problems all the time. As soon as summer gets close, the news stations keep lists of what beaches are closed due to E. Coli contamination. This last summer we had a nasty fish virus run through the area and there was dead fish everywhere and the DNR was scrambling to keep it contained. After all that, if you did find a beach that was swimmable, the sand is probably littered with small rocks and zebra mussel shells stabbing your feet or is covered in stinking heaps of seaweed that have washed in from deeper areas.

Don't worry Joe, you aren't the only non-swimmer here. Besides, I don't look to good in swim trunks. *shrug*

Yea.. I think those are in Clear Lake, IA too. We have a on-the-water bar called the "Muskie Lounge" anyway...
At any rate, never been attacked by anything other than Bullheads that I was trying to catch by hand... Maybe Muskie just don't find skinny dudes crashing and burning on various watercraft very tasty... wink Those giant carp look kinda spooky though. They could at least eat your foot before you beat em off with a stick...

COOL THREAD!!!

Dino-Welcome back, I knew you couldn't stay away, you have too much to say! Seriously, I like you and not just because your Joe article had a really unique perspective...it felt very much from the heart.  smile

Becky- The mention of the old forum...threads did have some really interesting twists and turns.

Joe- You are one cool cat the way you jump in different places on the forum, you're full of surprises!!  I think Clint is the definition of cool, the man doesn't even have to speak, his body language, facial expressions just speak volumes!  gsj was making fun of me one time when I said some of the old Clint movies remind of Clapton... (Clapton has had so many different looks.)  Your ultimate driving machine is the popular model driven by most of the lawyers I know, glad you're the ultimate guitarist driving one!  My fantasy car is one of those old 60's vets with the side vents, in like turquoise...minivans are so MOM!!  Very sweet your Mom & Dad are on speed dial, that just is really cute.  smile  I get the feeling you're into your Italian heritage.  I've been trying to get a story published about you through this Italian-American organization, (on and off for 2 years-you're on file with the editor, she needs a nudge) theme being a gifted  Italian-American Guitarist playing a custom Gigliotti.  Patrick's heritage is interesting...and there are a ton of Italians that have made string instruments historically back to lutes and we all know about you!!  I just ran into a guy very involved in the organization so I'm hopeful it will happen eventually. The magazine is published quarterly and some cool people belong, including lots of famous people...Robert DeNiro, Martin Scorcese, Sly Stallone, Nicholas Cage, Ellen Pompeo (Grey's Anatomy) Alan Alda, Bon Jovi, Gwen Stefani, Yogi Beara, Sinatra RIP was a member... I would still love to see Asking Around for You in a movie, etc. The last cool musical person written up that stood out was Vince Guaraldi, the writer for the music of Charlie Brown/Peanuts.  Here's a cool link to some facts.  http://www.niaf.org/research/contribution.asp#pop   Anyway, I hope you've experienced a nice jacuzzi sometime, it's really relaxing! big_smile

Video games- my kids like them, sometimes they make me dizzy to even walk by them. (I don't like any fast zooming in and out)  My daughter wants Guitar Hero for Christmas, her real guitars are collecting dust right now, hope she gets back to them.

Amen brother, screw swimming anywhere at any time, you cant hear nothing, if your in the ocean your food for some shark....Oh by the way I nearly drowned when I was 12, I'm sure that has nothing to do with my perception, and I'm STILL AFRAID of water!!

I'm a waterbaby, but I understand. I would add that you can get pretty mellow in a hot tub on the porch under the stars. Guitars are ruled by the element of Fire. So, stick with your instincts Joe.  Cathy

That's hilarious. My friend is the same way - only he's so convinced he's going to get eaten by sharks that when he is ready to die, at a ripe old age he's going to swim to the middle of the ocean and say "ok you f'ers...come get me." hilarious!

The law of averages says I'll survive.
-you know snakes and alligators come out of toilets according to TV & news. I'm more paranoid to sit on a toilet than go into the ocean! ha ha...
