Topic: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

This venue sounds terrible, but still an improvement over the lounge in the casino that Joe has usually played. All-ages show in the ballroom.  There is an opener, but not sure who it is.

Re: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

Hi Steve - again!
Crosby Loggins is the opener.  He has recently signed on to Joe's record label.  I believe he is traveling with Joe until the end of the year.

Actually I liked the lounge because we got seats at the bar. big_smile But I can see why it was a problem, being as small as it is.

I'm just saying.

Nancy - I agree the lounge was awesome - 4 Joe shows for free - who could ask for more?
We'd get there early and play the poker machines in the bar.  Only problem was those
awful cement pillars that blocked some of the view.

Re: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

With the lounge, yes the shows were free, but people would be yelling drink orders over my shoulder, the pillars as mentioned along with the bartenders and backbar that you had to look over, along with the noises coming from the casino. Yuck.  I'd rather pay, get a reserved seat and not have to deal with all of the above.  Plus I am betting there will be a lot of kids at the GB show since it's only $15....those were 21+ shows in the lounge.  Gotta make sure Joe is seen/heard by the kids!

Re: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

I bet seeing Joe at the lounge would have been a blast, but seeing as I'm underage (for another month) I'd have to hang out by the door.

But now I can see him in the ballroom, which isn't terribly huge, and there are going to be some pros and cons. First off, there won't be a bad seat in the house, but being in row G like me, I'm gonna get an awesome view. Second is that the crowd is gonna be just perfect. My dad, with his years of concert experience under his belt says that the best concerts he went we're small venues.

Bad thing is that the balllroom is a ballroom, so seats are probably going to be those uncomfortable metal folding chairs with just enough padding to be bearable. Hopefully we'll all be standing most of the time and that won't be a problem.

Hey Bryan,
I'm betting that you don't give a 2nd thought on the seat & your "bee-hind" when Joe takes the stage.......let me know if I won this bet   wink

Hey, who said we we're betting? =P

But you did win, I'd hang upside down from the rafters to see Joe.  Not to mention I'm skipping 5 hours of classes on Monday.  As much as I'd love to spend learning how to calculate what the force on the walls of 70 degree water going through a 1/2 inch corner pipe at 70 ft/s is, Joe wins big time.

For those that have never been to a show in the ballroom, when you arrive go to near the box office is in the "lobby" where you can see the casino entrance/lounge, buffet, and escalators.  They will have desks set up to give you 2 wristbands.  One for the concert and the other for alcohol if need be.

I thought the crowd in Milwaukee was somewhat obnoxious with the rude yells and screams when Joe was playing the quiet stuff. We'll see what tonight's crowd will bring.  I expect a lot of under-21 folks.

Julie and I will be there and there should be quite a few Bonavirgins from the word I've been spreading along with all positive responses!   Should be a fun Night.  I'm taking my oldest daughter to finally see Joe.  I can't wait to see the expression on her face (should be jaw dropping as most people do).
See you all tonight...Can't wait.
I have not yet seen a show in the Ballroom, I'm not sure what to expect but I hope it's as great as my expectations!  I do have to admit though, I really enjoyed the Lounge Shows.  Julie and I would get there early for great seating at the bar or at least tried to for most shows.   Still very fun!

Roy - I came within seconds of getting the pick at Alverno - I was going to give it
to Ben - I must be slipping in my technique as some guy grapped it and ran.  CRAP.

Re: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

Chrissie here-

I think Steve underestimated the sound in the place.  From where we sat (3rd row center) it sounded great, and he recorded from by the booth and it sounded good too.

Kenny Frickin Loggins!

Obnoxious lady sitting right in front of us...kept shouting out "Love You Hate You!"  WTF?  She was loaded.

I thought the pacing of the show was a little strange...the first half moved well but then the second half was a lot of jamming and for me it got old after about 15-20 minutes...I wanted to hear the next song.  Maybe because I had seen the show in Milwaukee too...it just seems like he took out songs he used to do and didn't replace them with other songs, just more solos.  (But no bass solo...how come?)

Still, all in all, great show.  Got to see everyone I only get to see at the Joe shows, enjoy the show in Wausau tonight!

Kenny or Crosby?

Re: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

Crosby's dad Kenny, for some reason, was in Green Bay last night, so the son-dad duo got up and played two songs together.  I wasn't recording Crosby's set, but when Kenny got on stage I quickly hit RECORD and captured it.

That is the BEST I have ever heard that venue sound.  Shows what a good line array and front-of-house sound engineer can do.  I was able to plant my mic stand within the safe confines of the sound/light desk barrier and got a good capture of the night.

Joe, It's amazing you didn't tell that one lady ahead of us in the 2nd row, dead center, to STFU.  She was obnoxious.  I should have told her early on that Miss You Hate You would be the final encore...ah, but she didn't know the correct song title anyway.  The 2 guys she was with ditched her towards the end of the show...with good reason.

Great show and I thought slightly better than Milwaukee.  Very appreciative crowd with a lot of seats sold.

Wausau tonight!

Re: 3 Clans Ballroom (Oneida Casino) - Green Bay, WI 11/05/07

I'm glad to hear it sounded good and that Kenny was there--what a nice surprise!  A couple of my students were at this show and all I could think is, "I hope it sounds good, I hope it sounds good".  This was the first time any of them have seen Joe.

That's too bad about the obnoxious lady--especially with an all ages show.  I bet the kids there were better behaved than her.

There was a young boy sitting almost dead center with his dad and right in front of the obnoxious one, 1st row.  He had ear plugs in, but that still probably couldn't drown out her drunk cackles.

The venue had nice courtesy wedges for the folks up front to help with the sound. Those are those speakers placed on the lip of the stage.

I noticed Bogie has a fancy pants in-ears monitor system and his tech had his own "ears" as well.  Nice!  Joe's stage can be loud, so this has to be a big plus for Bogie.

The venue had their own in-house camera system and a killer fixed camera on Rick's keyboard playing, which I thought was a bonus.  So many times you never SEE what a keyboardist is actually playing, like with a guitarist or drummer.
