I actually told Stew there were some Bonna fans that had heard he was hanging it up. With his show on the internet it is nice to see he has listeners from all over the land. I also asked him whether he will have a successor - he said the Station - WCCC - out of respect for Stew decided not to have anyone do a blues show. 6:30 pm and Joe is on the air!!!!!!!!!! Ball peen...
I could not get the show to come in. I tried calling but all circuits were busy. I emailed BeefStew and he said they were flooded with calls. How was it Rhoovis?

Also, I asked him if he could play a Blues Rock classic this Sunday, How Many More Times by Zeppelin. He said he will play it around 8 p.m. When is the last time you heard that on the radio? Joe said this song is one of his favorites. Be sure to tune in this Sunday evening from 6-12 Eastern on www.wccc.com and convince Stew to stay
Max, there is good one on 100.7 WZLX Boston on Sunday mornings called "Sunday Morning Blues", hosted by Carter Alan. He plays a mix of blues rock and traditional blues, but I think leans more towards blues rock... he plays Joe almost every week. He also play a lot of local blues acts, and he does take requests. It's on from 9AM to noon. You can listen to it online. Here is the link to their web site:

Carter told me that Burning Hell was his favorite. Carter is the 10-2 DJ during weekdays, and usually plays the bigger classic rock hits then. A few months ago he played Seagull during the lunch hour. I couldn't believe it! Joe getting air play and NOT during the blues show!

I heard Carter play Tea For One by Joe during lunch back around Thanksgiving. He is definitely a big Joe fan and supporter, and he will also play Govt Mule during his weekday show. We could certainly use more DJ's like Carter on the air.
Patty - the show was bittersweet. After 13 yrs Stew wanted to go out without alot of fanfare. Thus the 2 wek notice he gave. Stew has been a strong supporter of Joe's from early on. i can recall when Taken the Hit was new and Stew would play it every week for awhile.
Stew had an in studio jam with some Ct musicians later in the show - Jeff Pitchell,Dan Stevens and others. Stew has to move on to other musical interests now. "He has to do what he has to do" as they say. I will now be bonding with the Mrs on Sunday nights...
Man.....I totally missed that. I am very saddened to hear this....Stew was pretty damn good....not great, though. His shows had a way of becoming redundant from week to week.....I could only take him in small doses. However, I do wish I knew so I could have called him....he was also big on Savoy Brown, The Screaming Cheetah Wheelies and other local blues bands. But he wasn't as tied in as you'd think. I called him once to request some Lance Lopez, and he said "Who?" This was a few years back.....I got tired of the same Hendrix tunes, the George Thorogood and Zeppelin tunes were always the same ones...he could have stretched that show out a lot more....Carter Allen at ZLX is WAY more savy with the blues and artists...he's been around the Boston area since the early 80's and has always played a great mixture of blues and blues/rock....oh well. Think I'll go to the CT school of broadcasting and grab Stews spot!!!!!!!!
