Re: Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew

I have been listening to Beefstew ( being a Nutmeger) forever. He is a champion of the blues and a large suporter of Joe. He has had Joe on more then once before  - a good 20-30 minute interview is in order if the past is any indication. Don't forget you CT and RI residents - we need a good turnout for Joe at the beautiful Garde theatre in New London. Yes that New London - just off   I-95  1 1/2 hr from Boston and New York.

Re: Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew

Beef Stew is  the best. I have been listening to him via WCCC 106.9FM  and  via  the internet for  quite a while now. I met him in Berlin CT.  at that town's annual Bluesfest this past summer. He was very friendly, and  introduced me to Walter Trout.  He has been playing Joe  for a long  time now, and is a huge supporter. The Garde Center  show  sounds better every  day. I have seen him twice in more intimate  settings, so this  would be my first at a larger venue. Is  there a good pizza place close  by the theater in New London??

Thank You for Some Absolutly Great Music, Joe

Just an FYI--

http://megablues.com/

HARTFORD, CT - After 13 years, 634 weekly programs, 34,266 songs and 309 interviews, Beef Stew is bringing his Sunday Night Blues radio program on The Rock 106.9 WCCC to a close. His last show will air at 6:00pm on February 24th. Beef Stew said, "It's been a great run. I've made a lot of friends and I'm very grateful. However, after 13 years it's time to create something new for myself and my family. This is totally my decision and in no way reflects upon 106.9 WCCC. They are my friends and always will be."

Stew came to the legendary 50,000-watt rock station in 1995 and began his program with only 1-hour on Sunday nights. His mix of blues-rock, interviews and contests, combined with an irreverent, good-time attitude clicked with New England radio listeners. The program was a hit and by 1998 had expanded to 6 hours. Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew was a ratings winner, consistently staying in the #1 or #2 spot.

Hey Eva,  This show has already happened.  However, Mr Beef Stew was so very kind to me and sent me the disk of the interview.  I don't know for sure if it is "duplicate friendly" or not.  It was professionally done.  I'll check it out and if so you could email me your address and I could send to you.  I have had some nice correspondence with Beef Stew and I will miss him in the current format.  He is a big fan of Joe.

Lyn B and myself both have 'landmark' birthdays this year.....around the same date. We thought it would be even more special if they were celebrated at a Joe gig.

Re: Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew

How many other people have a birthday on this date? lol

I hate to see programs like these go..... reminds me of my local radio station. They replaced the Sunday Night Blues Hour with a Grateful Dead Hour.

Re: Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew

I was going to drop a line regarding the end of an era... the Sunday Night Blues era in CT, MA & NY but obviously others beat me to it.
I have listened faithfully for 13 yrs. I am very disappointed as sometimes you expect certain things to last forever. I asked Beefstew if there was any chance another blues show could replace his and he said probably not.
Like others I hate to see shows like this disappear. Please continue to support your local college radio blues programming. Besides satellite there isn't much blues radio left.

HEY JOE  - BEEFSTEWS FAREWELL SHOW IS THIS SUNDAY NIGHT... 6-MIDNIGHT- AS HE HAS SUPPORTED YOU THROUGH THE YEARS (INTERVIEWS,ETC.) - IF YOU ARE FREE MAYBE YOU CAN CALL IN AND SAY "BEST OF LUCK"...

Re: Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew

I asked Stew since he was leaving if there were any other Blues Rock shows on the radio and he said, Not that I know of. Isn't that sad? Does anyone out there know of any? Also, I asked him if he could play a Blues Rock classic this Sunday, How Many More Times by Zeppelin. He said he will play it around 8 p.m. When is the last time you heard that on the radio? Joe said this song is one of his favorites. Be sure to tune in this Sunday evening from 6-12 Eastern on www.wccc.com and convince Stew to stay smile

Max, there is good one on 100.7 WZLX Boston on Sunday mornings called "Sunday Morning Blues", hosted by Carter Alan.  He plays a mix of blues rock and traditional blues, but I think leans more towards blues rock... he plays Joe almost every week.  He also play a lot of local blues acts, and he does take requests.  It's on from 9AM to noon.  You can listen to it online.  Here is the link to their web site:
