Topic: Frank Marino at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta October 9th

What a great show.
I have seen all the posts of people seeing Frank's gigs.
I will tell you guys.
The man was explosive.
Two hours and forty minutes.
Last years it was over three hours.
Had an opener. Blues guitarist Mudcat who was politely received.
Great acoustic blues.  Authentic Mississippi style stuff.
Frank was amazing.
Had five or four new songs not heard from last year.
The man's energy is something.
A heavy jammer if there ever was one.

Re: Frank Marino at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta October 9th

Last night was another powerful performance by Frank.  He was very much under the weather....suffering from Bronchitis.  Doors opened at 6:30.  Opening act at 7pm...we figure we get there for 9 and we're good.  8:45 we stroll up and walk in and there's Frank crankin' like mad on "I'm a King Bee"....he started at 8pm!!!

He opened the show w/ Land of 1000 Nights(never before played live by the way....doh!!!) Then he went into The Answer followed by Dragonfly then into King Bee.  What screw ups we were/are!!  But, we did see Poppy, Keep on Tryin' Anyway, I'll Go Away, Strange Universe, and others I can't remember.  He played for 2 hours and 40 minutes and signed stuff from his bus...he was very sick.  Had him sign my shirt from The 2000 comeback show at the Spectrum in Montreal....it looks good w/ Frank's name on it signed.

Sounded like that was his last show for quite some time....we'll see.

NO ONE plays like this man.  He is on a wave all his own.

Hey blueser,

The man can really play, can't he? When we saw him we only got the 90 minute version because he was at a casino, but I must say it was 90 minutes of sheer guitar heights! Glad you got the longer version!

I know Roy - we only got 90 minutes - I feel ripped off - I feel like we missed so much-
I can only imagine what the next 90 minutes would have been like.   I hope we get the
chance to see him again at another venue.  Although we still had an awesome time!
