Topic: Tom Misch - Geography

Has anyone heard this album yet? Listening to it right now and I like it quite a bit. Bit of a mix of jazz, pop & R&B. He's a great player, singer, and has some great songs as well. Listen to it if you get a chance. He's also playing at Clapton's Crossroads Festival in Dallas on Sept. 20-21. I'll be there on the first night!!

bluesdeluxe25 - I suggest you check out my thread on Tom Misch that's on page 2.  Unfortunately this type stuff is usually just a back and forth between me and Mike Craggs (BansheeUK) and I'm glad you stepped out of the shadows and joined in.  Your observation is spot on.

This guy hasa large following in the UK but is gaining ground here in the States.  Geography is by far my favorite album for this year and I may go to Crossroads to see him play.  It's his only US stop this year.  His other album Beat Tape 2 is also fantastic and this live recording with Jordan Rakei at his parent's loft in London has become my favorite song of his.

Re: Tom Misch - Geography

I didn't really care for the video, too dark and edgy.  I did however like this song and Dayes' drumming.  Great chops.

Re: Tom Misch - Geography

Can't sleep and surfing my computer came across this gem from Yussef Dayes.  Can now see Tom's attraction to this very talented drummer.  The guitarist on this video ain't a slacker either.

And if the lad on Bass looks & sounds familiar, his dad is Pino Palladino...

Re: Tom Misch - Geography

Yes, Rocco is a stud in development and I think a regular playing with Yussef.  The vid I posted on 3/3 has Mr. Palladino on it and has been on regular rotation since then at my house.

I'm really starting to get excited about Tom's upcoming album as the songs I've heard so far are a new direction for Misch.  Gotta love him stepping out with serious guitar chops.  I think Dayes is the type musician that challenges his band mates.
