Topic: JB Houston Radio News

Thanks to the efforts of Glen Winfrey, and the hard work and persistance of the Houston Area Street Team members, KIOL-FM Rock 103.7 in Houston has received a press kit and all of Joe's catalog, and have begun playing Joe on the radio!

More specifically, Walton and Johnson, a morning show originating in Houston and syndicated in Dallas (The Bone), New Orleans (Bayou 95.7), Baton Rouge (Eagle 98.1), and Biloxi (z95.3 FM), Temple/Kileen (The Eagle), Lake Charles (The Pirate) and other markets I'm sure I'm not aware of - agreed to invite Joe to play live during their show while Joe is in Texas in July.

They enjoy having quality live music in the studio and love to promote - several artists including Arc  Angels..Ian Moore...Aaron Neville..Melissa  Ethridge...Better Than  Ezra...Jerry Jeff Walker...Gary Hoey... Kip Attaway...  Dash  Riprock..Chicago Al...Red Peters..Junior Brown..Govt   Mule..Skynyrd. Kenny Wayne Shepherd..etc.... have all played on their show in the past.

After many months of emails, phone calls, and donuts, Glen and I met with the folks at the station today. They were very receptive and within 15 minutes of the conclusion of our visit, "Traveling South" was blasting across their markets. They had already picked some cuts from previous releases they liked, but they now have "You and Me" to play from and will do so.

While this is a great accomplishment in the promotion of "You and Me" and the upcoming shows, please join us in letting the "Walton and Johnson" show know that you appreciate them inviting Joe to play and for playing his music and promoting his upcoming shows.

Walton and Johnson can be reached via the contact information on their web site - Walton and Johnson Show

Their email addresses are listed and they do read them daily.

Having Joe on the radio in one of the largest markets in the US, as well as the other syndicated markets can't hurt!

We'll keep you posted on further developments - they are coming!

Cheers,

Phil Cornell

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Fantastic news Phil.  I listen to The Bone here in Fort Worth, and will try to contact them about having Joe visit when he plays up this way.  I also had my 2 hours of fame, by being a guest DJ on The Bone back in 2002.  Can't wait to hear Joe on the air, finally!!!  Thanks for all you work, hope to see you soon again.

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Barry,
I thought that might have been you.......I didn't recognize "rediman", but when you said Janis was our Queen down here I had a hunch it was you.

Tell everyone in big D we said "Hey" and we'll see you guys soon again.

Street Team efforts pull through again.  Great news.

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Glen, Phil, you are happening cats, due recognition in the Street Team Hall of Fame. We are not worthy.
Joe will soon be kickin Texas asses and raisin hell.

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Just sent a message to Walton and Johnson. It takes guys like this to give Joe the boost he needs. Getting airplay in this kind of market not on a specialty blues show is huge. Please take the time to show our appreciation as well. Thank Walton and Johnson for supporting Joe.

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Thanks for the kind words Phil, Jim and everyone who posted to this thread. Even if you’re not in this marketing area, please email the Walton & Johnson and show your support for Joe.

After many years and months of doing every thing I could think of, Phil & I finally broke through. We have put many sets of CD's in the DJ's hands, and well..... the rest is history!

No matter how big or small the radio stations in your area are, I would urge you to continue requesting information on Joe, and request his music.

Thanks Phil for all your help!

I feel like this is a huge milestone….!

Cheers from Houston,

Glen Winfrey

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Wow, great work!  I guess KIOL is more open to different music since they are not part of the Clear Channel Mafia.  I can't say I've ever heard Walton & Johnson play any music, but I have a short commute to work and don't listen to their gab much.
The only time I've heard Joe on the radio is from a little radio station at Alvin Community College (which probably doesn't reach Katy).  In fact, the first song I heard was Current Situation and I knew before the song ended that I HAD to check this dude out.
Now with his increased popularity and media coverage, I wonder if Joe could possibly sell out the Meridian in July....

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Driving down the freeway this morning listening to "The Walton and Johnson Show" and low and behold they play "Be Pretty, Be Quiet, Be Naked"......a tune from The Rumblebees, so I gave them a call and let them know about Joe and his connection to The Rumblebees and that Mike Himelstein and Joe had written songs together - including "Asking Around For You" from Joe's newest CD. They were fired up to hear that and in the next few minutes played some Joe again...........

Need to ask you a question Phil, will e-mail your address.

Re: JB Houston Radio News

I still have hope for and think Bob and Tom syndicated morning show is something that could happen. They are old classic rockers that have had Joe Satriani, Johnny A, and others in the studio. I have e-mailed them in the past and someone here said that they were familiar with Joe. Any body in Indy might see what they can do.

Re: JB Houston Radio News

They've also had Doyle Bramhall II.

Re: JB Houston Radio News

This is great!  Is The Bone 93.3?  I think they did a fundraiser last year and when I called they claimed they didn't have any Bonamassa music, but I think it was Cion that suggested playing "For What It's Worth" and they did.  That's progress!  Persistence pays off!

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Yes Angela, 93.3 is The Bone in Dallas/Fort Worth area.  They were also a sponsor for Joefest I believe, or one of Joe's shows here in the area.  Trying to find out who is sponsoring Joe playing at 8.0 on July 23rd in Fort Worth also.  Would make sense that the station sponsoring, would play some of his music, so I'm on that also.

Love, Peace, Beatles and JOE!!!

Re: JB Houston Radio News

You guys did it! That is so awesome. Then there is still hope with perserverance. I haven't listened to The Bone much lately but it will be on my 30 minute drive every morning now! I can't believe I can hear Joe on something other than internet radio here in Dallas. (Bandit Blues plays alot of Joe)
Kudos to you, Phil and Glen!

GO MAVS!

Re: JB Houston Radio News

Just another note on this topic, for everyone that is in a market where Walton and Johnson are syndicated - they have begun using snippets of "Joe" songs to intro and exit certain segments of their show. So far each time I've heard them do this they have mentioned Joe's name.......at the very least every other time they play some of it. As I was speaking to Glen, he mentioned he had heard it as well.

Keep listening and calling them (866-I LOVE WJ) and emailing them. You can find their contact info at http://www.waltonandjohnson.com.....

Details are being finalized for Joe to appear on their show and play a little to promote his upcoming shows and "You and Me"........ I'll keep you posted.
