Topic: How to clean Les Paul Pickup Covers

I've tried to clean these before, and nothing happened with the polish I used. I'm not sure if this is tarnish or what, but it'd be nice to get them clean. Does anyone have any ideas?

I would attach pictures but I have no idea how to do that on here so if anyone can help there too that'd be nice

The chrome and gold covers will age as the surface oxidizes.

As the surface dissipates there's not much to get the metal back except replating
