Topic: Holmfirth gig sunday 5th august!!!

Hey all me and my friend went to the gig on a beautiful sunday night in holmfirth, ive never been to holmfirth but i thought it was a lovely little british village with just a few pubs and shops not really a setting for a blues guitarist but thats what made it so good for me. Its the first time i have seen joe and i thought he was excellent a friend recommended him to me otherwise i wouldnt know who the hell he was. I have listened to all his albums and my fave is 'Had To Cry Today' but closly followed by 'You And Me' and its funny cos most of the songs he played on sunday were from that album i was surprised only to hear 1 from his up and coming new album 'Sloe Gin' which i have pre-ordered lol. The highlightes for me were highwater, bridge to better days, woke up dreaming, miss you hate you {prob the best], so many roads ok they were all bloody good ha ha. Does anyone know the set list from this gig?

I video'd the whole set from the front row. Once I get it broken down into tracks I'll let you know. It was some great gig I can tell you. Almost like - "OK, this is the last show of the European tour , lets's rip!". Joe did quite a few things differently and hung a few new tricks out to dry - his run of harmonics blew, everyone, his band and even himself away, you should see his expression when he pulled it off - absolutely waesome moment for me, and Mountain Time - what can I say!

Ah, "what memories, what memories!"

Hi Guys,

This was my first JB gig, and it certainly won't be my last. Fantastic, especially in the "cosy" surroundings of Holmfirth Picturedrome - I was on the balcony, it consisted of chairs, settees and scaffolding ...

Anyway, Joe was brilliant, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire set, especially Sloe Gin. It was a hell of a surprise when he did a bit of Genesis' Los Endos, though!

Geoff:  Nice dive site.  What is the equivalent of 20 meters in terms of depth in feet ?  Is this your business ? -  River diving... That would be tough conditions.  I don't mind deeper dives as long as the visibility is there.  Although, it's true, there can be some very rough surges and currents in the ocean too.     kat

No not my business, that would be casino supplies, just a hobby! It's about 65 feet. We don't dive in rivers all that often, hardly ever actually! We do however dive in Liverpool Bay where the area was known as the Western Approaches for two world wars, where there was much submarine activity, so lots of wrecks, which I can assure you were not sunk just to provide a dive site. If you ever get a chance to see an admiralty chart of the area, you'll find hundreds of wrecks. This is off topic so back to Holmfirth, great gig. Can't wait for February when he comes back to the UK!
