Quite an up to date set-list for Joe.
Looks like nothing pre - "Dust Bowl"
Is he still using horns and backing singers?

Lester..

He took it all too far,
but boy, could he play guitar.

Re: Another Summer Tour Kicks Off In Southern NJ! (Atlantic City - 8/4/17)

Such a great time last night at the show. I was finally able to give Joe the Mr V coaster that he had asked me to make for him and it was so nice of him to invite us back stage so I could see the real V. Kind of funny, when I was showing him how similar I had tried to make it to the original I showed him how I had put a gouge at the bottom near the input jack just like the real one had and I pointed to where it was on the original guitar. He was like, "Thanks, I didn't even know that was there. Now I'm going to notice it all the time" Sorry, Joe. I guess I get a little too detailed some times. It was really nice just hanging out and talking for a bit. I always cherish those moments. Been missing that kind of thing with no RCFP lately.
The show itself was fantastic. As Jane posted the set list you all can see that there were quite a few nice additions. The older songs have totally different arrangements to them and they sound awesome. My favorite was "Last Kiss". That song kind of holds a special place for me because it's the first song I ever heard of Joe's. It was the one he was performing when Phil just happened to click on PBS that day a few years ago and our life has never been the same since. The version at the show last night was really rockin and had some great solos by Reese and Paulie. I also thought "Slow Train" sounded cool with the girls taking different parts of the verses. Some people object to when songs are changed, but I think it breathes new life into them. I love hearing different versions. "Driving Towards The Daylight" is always a nice showcase of Joe's voice and "Song of Yesterday" is such a treat to finally get to hear here in the US. I prefer this version with the girls singing Glenn's parts. And the intro is killer. Glad that Joe has brought "Black Winter" back into the set as well. It's such a wonderful instrumental piece. The whole show was a powerhouse. Had kind of hoped a slow blues would have showed up, but seems like Joe's taking a break from that kind of song right now.
Our seats were third row, but waaaay far over on the right side. Past where even Reese was sitting. And the floor was flat. Don't know what possessed me to buy those seats because it's the wrong direction to see Joe and filming the show was a killer. I had to sit up on one leg to see over people which really hurt my foot and I had to have the camera much higher than I prefer which caused my shoulder to have sharp pains because of the having my arm raised up. The videos kind of wiggle around a bit because I was so uncomfortable. It's probably stupid that I put myself through this, but it was the first show of the tour and I really wanted to capture the new arrangements. Was nice to hang out with Cathy, Jane and Al(Sam)-Roadcaseboy and also to meet Reo 1. Looking forward to seeing 2 more of these shows, in Portland and Saratoga.

Thank you for being a true friend and holding my hand when it most needed )

Thank you Natasha and Phil for preserving a history by filming so many Joe's shows. Was such a chicken this year and didn't book the cruise soon enough before it was sold out, but feel so fortunate that will be able at least watch your videos and catch a glimpse of it.

Definitely latter day repertoire, Lester.  An exception to nothing being pre- Dust Bowl is "Last Kiss."  It was on The Ballad of John Henry

Glad you made it home safely reo l ... quite a drive for your Bonabaptism!

So nice to meet you. (Thank you for your far too kind comment.)

A little part of me likes the "mystery" of Forum ID's ... but having been fortunate to meet a handful of Forum members at Joe shows these past few years ... meeting a person to the ID ... has been a big highlight of those past few years for me!!

I have attended a lot of shows by musicians thru the years ... but Joe's are the only ones ... that for me ... there is a Family attached to it ... always great seeing a familiar friendly face from the Forum ... or meeting a Family Member for the first time ... even if for a brief moment ... at a Joe Show ... it becomes part of the Joe Show experience!!  So many more Members here that I hope to cross Joe Paths with some day.

Enjoy your next shows on this leg!
