Topic: 5/8/17 Baden Baden - Joe's Birthday show

We were very fortunate to attend Joe's 40th birthday show in Baden Baden, Germany. It was an excellent show with a few surprises which was very nice. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling at all well that night so I couldn't appreciate it as much as I would have wanted to. It was all I could do to make it through the show which was a bummer since we had come all that way. However I did manage to capture a few of the highlights on video. Our seats where in the 13th row so there were quite a few heads I had to look around in order to see, but it was a good straight on view otherwise and a good place for sound. Kirk Fletcher sat in on a number of songs which was a wonderful treat. They did an incredible version of "Breaking Up Somebody's Home" which was probably the best version we have ever heard. Almost everyone took solos on it and Joe's solo was stellar. Another highlight was an incredible back and forth between Joe and Lee Thornburg during "Love Ain't A Love Song" Totally different version from what we have been hearing for the past year or so and it was awesome. I also was so happy to finally hear "Song of Yesterday" done electric. We had heard it done acoustically a few times during the Carnegie Hall run, but to hear it electric really is something to witness. Love the intro Joe is doing on it and how he just holds those high notes out and lets them sing. The crowd seemed excited that it was his birthday and when he did his monologue people in the crowd all stood up started calling out Happy Birthday, cheering and singing. Joe joked that the sole standing ovation that he had gotten so far that night was for surviving 40 years, lol. It was nice to be able to be there for this milestone smile

Thanks for the Vids Natasha.
So sorry to hear that you did not feel well.
I could not attend his 40th birthday gig as I originally planned because of an Majorca weekend and work.

Hope to see Breaking Up Somebody's Home as well in Düsseldorf tomorrow.

Very cool to see the Joe is changing the set a bit from show to show

Looking forward to tomorrow
