Re: Benedum Center Pittsburgh

Finally getting around to posting about the shows at the Benedum. Joe played 2 nights and it was a wonderful treat to have different setlists each night. On the first night it was songs from his recent album releases and 2 from the British Blues show last summer. On the second night he removed some songs and replaced them with a few more of the British Blues stuff. I filmed the whole first night and the 4 songs from the second that didn't feature in the first. Took a bunch of photos the second night as well. I felt bad for Joe the first night because he was having some amp issues as well as not feeling well. By the end of the show he had enough with the amp and pushed it over and then placed his guitar on top of it. He was laughing when he did it and had Mike take a photo of it which he later posted on instagram. Glad he could make light of it because I know it had to have been frustrating. Those old amps are cranky and every now and then they blow. Kind of funny during Hummingbird because you can see the amp on its side as he is playing. Don't see that too often. The second night he was in better spirits, everything was working properly and the crowd was quite energetic. He kept thanking everyone because he said he really needed the pick me up. I had hoped the medicine he was taking for his sinus infection was finally helping him, but as it turned out, he still was quite sick. Don't know how he played as well as he did considering how he had been feeling. Give him a lot of credit for hanging in there. I really enjoyed both nights, but the setlist the second night is my favorite. I absolutely love the instrumental "Black Winter" that he does. It's different every time and is truly the highlight for me. I also really love the new arrangements of the British Blues songs and Dustbowl. Personally I think the British stuff sounds better than when we saw it last summer. The addition of the horns, the girls backup voices and Mike playing rhythm really improve these songs. On the first night "I Gave Up Everything For You" was really cool because he did a bit of Yes's "Heart of the Sunrise" during his solo. Hearkens back to long ago when he used to do this quite a bit.

I was a bit under the weather for the show, but still very much enjoyed it.

We spent the night in Pittsburgh and the next morning at breakfast in the motel, a man came in and saw my Bonamassa hat and said, so you were at the concert last night.

My wife and I replied, yes we were.

It was the gentleman's first time seeing Joe and he was so giddy, he talked about it for 15 minutes before taking a bite of his breakfast....ha, it make my wife and I feel so good to hear him give Joe praise.

We talked about it about the whole ride home.
