My take, and if you are looking for another kiss ar5e rose tinted opinion please skip reading this:
A lovely setting as has been said before, - Greenwich the home of the Meridian line, where East meets West and time is set. It is a an area of London the at first appears well off/rich, but dig a bit deeper and it is not, a lot of very poor families that live in the area. But this was not a show for the locals, it was for the checked shirt wearing silver haired man and his well tanned wife in their Rolls Royce parked by the gate. Blues these days seemingly has very little to do with its roots.... Greenwich was one of the largest ports in England bringing in slaves from Africa.
An interesting show, as Joe said himself, playing songs that the vast majority had never heard him play before is a bit different, - and it was a great concert to sit there and absorb, - although to add a little after-thought, whilst understanding that it was a tribute to Jimmy Page when you play Led Zep songs there will always be something missing without Plant’s voice, whoever does it. - “How Many More Times” was excellent because of the interplay between Michael and Joe. The Clapton/Beck songs worked very well, “SWLABR” very enjoyable.
I was seated in the rear block, and I think because of that I felt slightly detached from the show, not a fault of Joe and the band at all, more to do with the venue and the fact that pricing structure in my opinion attracts people with a lot of money and perhaps not a lot of Joe or concert experience or etiquette. The entire evening there was a procession of people getting up, walking about, talking, getting a glass of champagne etc. However it changed, when as said above Joe beckoned for everybody to abandon their seats and come forward, once closer to stage I felt part of what was going on, - I think it was for the last 3 songs.
In spite of what may appear as negative I did enjoy the evening immensely, privileged to have been there.
