Topic: Just bumed out and feeling sorry for myself

Joe is not coming to Florida this year, we had reservations for the Blues Cruise last Febuary and I was hospitalized and had to cancel at the last moment (thankfully we bought the trip insurance).  We are planning on retiring next year so it's balls to the wall, trying to make and save as much money between now and then, so there are no big trips planned.  I'm sitting here tonight, obviously had a couple cocktails to relax on a Friday night, listening to RAH I.  I'm just bummed.  No Joe this year.  It SUCKS!!!

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

I'm looking at a long dry spell myself. Nothing until next year sometime at the earliest.

I can relate, was having a horrible day yesterday - too many deaths of treasured friends and family over the past year and it was getting to me.  Went home and popped in Joe & Co. live at the Vienna Opera House DVD and it was just the tonic I needed.  The advantages to "home" concerts are the beer is cold and much cheaper, the restroom is available at all times and you can pause/rewind as often as desired.  I really appreciate all the live performances Joe releases on DVD (can't say how many times I've danced around my house to Muddy Wolf!).  I hope he continues to release live performances on CD and DVD, even though I'm sure it's a very costly venture.

at least you can retire.. the day I retire is the day they zip the bag over me.

Yeah, I'm not privy to possibility, yet at least, but it is always a hope.  That's where I have a dry spell of 2 years after a good many run.  The last time there actually started, for the first and only time in 15 1/2 years, a 1 1/2 year drought of not seeing Joe B perform anywhere in any capacity other than not actually Live... sad

Yup, It's On Me... wink

And yes kljgray, although I kin only relate to your "home concerts" advantages of pause and rewind (and fast forward too!), it is definitely very nice to have things to attend second hand.  Very nice indeed.

Hmm, I'd also hope for a RCFP return to the Iridium in New York, IF I had a decent advance notice to appear...could attend with friends! big_smile

Yeah, sure, a bit of a bummer, but hey, it all comes back around the sun again... cool

...Caught up on Joe, 7 times in the last 10 months.  Atsa big smile maker! big_smile

I live in hope, but I'm out of sync for the rest of the year it looks like. Off to Europe to see the son and family right after the coming tribute tour which precluded that, then a long planned fishing trip when Joe plays here. Maybe a window in Sept-Dec?

Many of us know the feeling. "Back in the day" Joe was in Maryland often. As his tour has expanded, he now comes every other year. So, I save, forgo clothing and other non-essentials, and travel for shows. However, because Joe is so generous with taping, we can often experience a show in high quality video/audio thanks to folks like the Cornblatts. wink

Re: Just bumed out and feeling sorry for myself

Sorry to hear about you having to miss seeing Joe play live.  But, something I've learned living with bipolar disorder for all these many years is that things can always be worse.  Remember the past good times and look forward to future good times to come.  Before you know it you'll be sitting in a venue watching Joe belt out all our favorite tunes.  I wish you luck and happiness enjoying your, surely, much earned retirement.
