Topic: Choir Statistics 2014-2015 Season

Taking a Chapter (ok I stole it) from Joe and his tour stat's.

here are the Stat's of my first season playing guitar in a Children's Church Choir..
I pale in comparison to many of the guitar players here on the forum.. but hey... I'm still learning

Since 1998 I have helped out the Children’s Choir every-other Sunday at Church
I was sound mix-down, load-in, load-out, child supervisor, etc

I stepped into “the fire” this year by asking to play guitar as backup this year to the choir director.
Much to the surprise of some (my family)
I heard.. You What? You’ve never played a whole song ever! .. etc.
I’ve tried to maintain at least 1hr practice schedule per day or more for each upcoming choir. Even sitting in the van practicing while wife shops.

The following are the best guesstimates of the stat’s for the 2014-2015 season which ends on June 20 (sadly only 2 choirs remain as of this writing June6+20)

Children’s Choir Stat’s for 2014-2015

24 appearances (21 Masses, 3 extra practices at the church)
45.5 hours of singing/playing in church choir Mass
23,310 people hearing the choir sing - Approx. 1,110 people average per mass (some masses are smaller maybe 700, some are large like Christmas/Easter 2000+)
300 songs sung combination of new or repeated songs (some are repeated every mass like Gloria and Lamb of God; repeated 147 times)

Now I have to try and work on some ‘popular’ songs this summer and keep sharp for the Choir songs (aka summer practice), since it starts back up around Sept 19

Cheers
Doug

Re: Choir Statistics 2014-2015 Season

Congratulations, that's fantastic.  I have to admit to being a conservative Catholic and a guitar at Mass is not my cup of tea, but I know the kids love it.  Keep up the hard work, you never know the difference that you make in people around you.  We will keep you in our prayers.

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

If it wasn't for the work I do in the kids choir .. I...

The kids are unpredictable at best, keeps it interesting.

and I'm playing, that's the big thing.
