Everything is on track now. He came back to the States Monday and he plays his first show of the tour tonight in Annapolis. The Rams Head is nearly sold out which will be a wonderful way to begin after all the issues he had earlier. The shows he had to cancel have been rescheduled and new ones are also being added from time to time so keep an eye on his tour page http://davyknowles.com/tour/

Re: Davy Knowles

Yes, wonderful show!  Since I discovered Joe about 5 years ago I haven't been very interested in any other artists.  But Davy is remarkable, so glad I tried him out based on Natasha's endorsements!

Re: Davy Knowles

Hi Jane.

I want to say thank you for the show review.   I am seeing Davy here in Denver in March and it's nice to have some info/updates/reviews to follow in the interim.  Can't wait!

On a separate note, a few things specific to Nick.  I was hopeful after your review that perhaps he would be at the Denver show with Davy, but it does not appear to be the case based off his schedule on his website.  That show appears to be more of a one off date playing with Davy.  I am a fan of Nick's music and have been for quite awhile.  I have seen Nick many times and he is always great.

I can't tell from your message if you were familiar with Nick before the show or not.  In case you weren't, I would highly recommend that you check out his previous band called Trampled Under Foot.  Great blues band he was in with his brother and sister.  His sister Danielle is also incredible and has a nice solo thing going now too.  Would definitely recommend checking her out as well if you aren't familiar.  She goes by Danielle Nicole.  Sorry if you already know all this.  Just passing it along in case.  Also...sorry for the slight thread hijack.

Again, thanks for your review and for helping bridge the next couple months for me until it's my turn.

Re: Davy Knowles

Was a great time at Rams Head. So much fun to see Davy with so many people we know. Glad you decided to come Jane! This was Davy's first show of the tour after all the visa issues. He had just flown in to Chicago Monday, then immediately got on the road to get to Annapolis by Wednesday. He was thoroughly exhausted and suffering from some major jet lag, but you wouldn't have known. He played for nearly 2 1/2 hours and did 22 songs. It was a great show. He will be releasing 2 acoustic EPs this year one featuring his Martin Guitar and one his Triolian. He played a new acoustic song "Drunk Mind Sober Heart" a fun little tongue in cheek number that will be on one of those EPs. Davy recorded the audio from the soundboard and audience and he let me use that for my videos. Sound came out really good. Here are the songs:

Re: Davy Knowles

Thx for putting this up....he's playing Jergels tonight at 8 p/m...can't wait...:)

Re: Davy Knowles

I really wish Davy would release a live album from one of these shows. I've watched a ton of these videos and I feel what I've heard of his studio work (two most recent releases) doesn't do him and his band justice in comparison. Plus I enjoy the longer solos on the live cuts. Does anyone know if he has any plans for a live release?

Re: Davy Knowles

I went to Monroe, MI on Tuesday to see Davy play a very special acoustic show with Rev Robert B. Jones. The show was free and held at a library as part of their Black History month celebration. It was a wonderful night of music. Rev. Jones is an adept storyteller and prefaced his songs with the history regarding them. They played 2 sets. In the first Davy and the Rev each played a few of their own songs by themselves. Then in the second set they took turns playing and accompanying one another. It was so great to hear Davy play songs I had never heard before. He had one brand new one that night. And it was also cool hearing songs done acoustic that I previously only heard electric. Davy's solos during the Rev's songs were also incredibly impressive. Davy really is an accomplished acoustic player. He was telling me that he was kind of out of his comfort zone at this show. I told him he needs to get out of that zone more often wink He spoke of needing to strengthen his right hand more. It really requires more effort when playing acoustic. During the show you could tell how much fun both Davy and Rev Jones were having playing together. There was a lot of spontaneous stuff and in my mind it really shows the mark of an accomplished musician. Davy is hoping to play again with Rev Jones. He is planning on releasing an EP of acoustic songs later this year. Perhaps if he does an acoustic tour, the Rev can join him for a few shows. I know I would love to see them play together again.

Re: Davy Knowles

Thanks so much for the vids of Davy , and I got a chance to tell him this past Sunday night,  that I listen to his music through AnitrasDance videos.    Davy is a very humble guy.

But what I don't understand, is why does he not have a greater popularity ............    damn,  he's good.

Its like this,  my wife and I both have his music in our heads,  almost daily.    Almost every evening, the house is filled with Davy Knowles.    His vocals are great, he's great on guitar, and he has good songs.

Maybe he's not exposed to the big corporate money machine & he's content being himself not dealing with the b/s....
I do agree he's super talented...&  He's one of the best under the radar out there....

Go to Davy's website, he just released a bootleg series of live music.

Re: Davy Knowles

Davy's doing a nice little California run from March 24th - April 1. I'll be at the shows from LA up to San Fransisco. Looking forward to meeting up with some of the West Coast people. Here is a link for his show dates and tickets http://davyknowles.com/tour/

Re: Davy Knowles

Davy is listed as appearing at the Mt. Baker Blues Festival in Washington state on August 2 but he doesn't show it on his list of tour dates.  What I'm hoping is that he might do a show in Seattle too while he's in the area.

There are 6 of us going to Biscuits and Blues if SF....are you going to be there?? I may shoot up to Sutter Creek too but that theater is a dump (but close)....

Re: Davy Knowles

The Sweetwater in Mill Valley is a neat place (Bob Weir is one of the owners) and OhioDawg tells me that The Blue Note in Napa is a good spot too but it is pretty new so I haven't been there yet...

Re: Davy Knowles

Change of plans. Decided to sit these out. Perhaps we'll catch him in the Netherlands or the Isle of Mann in May.
