Re: Davy Knowles

Had the opportunity to catch a few of Davy's shows recently. He had 2 great nights at the Iridium. Nice to hear a couple of new songs that will be on the upcoming album. I was incredibly impressed with the audience both nights. Very enthusiastic yet when Davy was playing they shut right up and were hanging on his every note. That is something for a New York crowd. He really impressed them. And it's no wonder because he played and sang his butt off at both shows. First show I wanted to be up close because it is so nice to be right in the action however, the angle is always a bit odd and the keyboardist, Andrew was in the dark and I couldn't see his hands. The second night I sat up near the soundboard. Was great to be able to talk to the guy running the lights and have him turn up a bit more white light on Andrew and Davy as well. Wish I could do that at every venue, lol. Wonderful time in NY, nice to hear Davy play his '66 Tele. His new pride and joy. Always such a great time hanging with him. Love that guy.

On certain songs it's "physically" impossible to see Andrews hands when he gets wound up. Yes that aged Tele has a nice sound, but I've seen Davy go through many guitarmances over the years. I guess the PRS days are over. Saw 2 of his former bandmate/employers last Saturday night.

You're welcome Jane!

Was such a blast seeing Davy with Johnny A, and so glad Jane and Bob were there too with us. Johnny and Davy are doing 3 shows together this month each taking turns headlining. They met on the Keeping The Blues Alive cruise this past February and really hit off and decided to do a few shows together. So cool how Joe's cruise has brought different musicians together. It's formed some great relationships. They played so great together at this show and took turns sitting in on a few songs on each other's sets. Really was a blast to see these two great guitarist trading licks.

Here are three songs they did together. Nicky Moroch, another great guitarist and friend of Davy also sat in on 2 of the songs.

Re: Davy Knowles

Davy Knowles had his album release party for "Three Miles From Avalon" this Friday in Chicago. The album has entered the Billboard Blues charts this week at #5 and I couldn't be happier for him. It's a stellar album. The best new release I've heard recently. If you haven't bought it yet, please check it out. He had a killer show this Friday to celebrate this release. He wrote about it being the best show he's ever had, and I have to agree. It was off the charts from beginning to end. The first part of the show consisted of him performing the entire album all the way through. Then he played four acoustic songs, one of which was "Stay", a song from his first album that he wrote after two of his best friend died tragically when they were 16. He mentioned that he rarely plays this one and I can understand why, it was so incredibly emotional to hear him do it. I don't know how he held it together. It gave me chills and made me feel like crying all at the same time. After the acoustic songs, the band came back out and played 5 more older tunes. The "Come Home" was the best I'd ever heard. Davy threw "Spoonful" into the middle of it and it really added something special to the song. Davy had a camera crew there filming the show, and hopefully if all goes well, a DVD can be expected in the future. So happy for him that he had such an awesome performance for the cameras to capture. It was such a great night and so much fun to spend time with Davy. As Joe mentioned to me the other day, Davy is one of the "good" ones and I definitely have to agree.

Re: Davy Knowles

Oh. my .  goodness .

After watching nmagcorn's vids on YouTube, I bought tickets to see Davy in OKC on Feb 12.

And that's not all, he will be at Friends bar, which allows smoking.   And for an ex smoker like me, who can not stand cigarette smoke,  to go see someone in a smoking environment ........ I gotta really like his sound.

Looking forward to this.

Re: Davy Knowles

Just got my tickets to see Davy here in Denver on March 18th.  Davy is a favorite of mine and I am very excited to see him again.  Especially in a nice smaller venue.  Ticket was $13.33 including service charges.  That is a steal to see someone with his level of talent.  Just have to wait the long 2 months now.

Re: Davy Knowles

Davy is playing next Wednesday in Pa. @ Jergel's advance tickets 10.00...door 13.00...WOW

Re: Davy Knowles

Yeah, he had to cancel Jergels and the 2 Iridium shows. All have been rescheduled. Worry that he might have to cancel some more. His passport still hasn't come and they were going to notify him when it was sent. He hasn't received any notification yet and it will take 2 days by courier to get it to him. Needless to say he is quite upset by the whole thing. Sure hope he gets word soon.

And Jane it would be great to see you at the Annapolis show smile
