Re: SIMO

Looks like he's playing one of our many local breweries here in Asheville in April. I've been wanting to see him for some time now. I also agree that his vintage guitar blog is rad.

Jim, I was talking with Simo a few weeks ago and he said he would be coming to our neck of the woods on his summer tour. Will have to keep a lookout for tour schedule.

Thanks for the update!! I've chatted with him a few times and he said he'd be around here "soon".  Glad to hear plans are firming up.  I was getting ready to drive to Nashville big_smile

Re: SIMO

I saw JD last Thursday at Pisgah Brewing. There were maybe 30-40 people there. He played his 62' 335 for the first half of the set, then one song on a double-neck, and the remainder of the set on his 60' LP. The entire set was killer! Amazing tone, great vocals, and great songs. After the show I met him and we talked tone. He even asked which guitar I thought sounded best. Such a down to earth guy; the whole band were cool dudes! I highly recommend you check these guys out when/if you get a chance.

Here's SIMO performing With a Little Help from my Friends with Tommy Emmanuel.  The last few minutes of back and forth solos with Simo and Emmanuel are incredible.

Thanks for posting. Never thought I would ever see Tommy with an electric. I would have to say after seeing this he doesn't play one often. wink I guess I was expecting too much.

Re: SIMO

Im a knew member and just wanted to say Im really getting into your playing Joe.  Great tone and technique.  I just ordered a Jim Kelly amp and have a knew strat from Mike Detemple on the way.  Im figuring it will be a magic combination. Keep on rocking and I look forward to more listening and reading on you. Oh and what a voice!
Do you have any advice for someone getting the Jim Kelly?  Im thinking that I should get a greenback cabinet for a smoother distortion but again I don't have the amp yet so its a little premature.  Any advice you could give would be great.

Hi obviously I am not Joe but I do own two Jim Kelley combos. Awesome amps. Do yourself a favor if the combo is the one you are getting pick up a Jim Kelley attenuator also. These are beasts although small they put out serious volume. Since your new to the forum please post in the introduction section and tell us all about yourself.
